I have a problem with my HDMI too...it's all grainy, but for you I think you just need to plug in the av cables switch to HD and then 720p...1080p etc. and switch 'em out

I had to have the component cables plugged in at the same time as the HDMI because there would be no pic with the HDMI after using the components. Then while they were both plugged in, switch to HDMI on the console and it should work.

Is the sound going through or is it just nothing?

Did you unplug all your old connections? I think if you still have the regular audio cables plugged in, it tries to send the video through A/V as well instead of the HDMI? Not sure :(

It detects it automatically and you choose which resolution you want to display your HDTV. Select a resolution and it should work. Otherwise, call Microsoft, because there could be other bigger underlying problems. Also, your cable could be defective.

I've tried every resolution, 2 seperate hdmi cables, returned the xbox and tried a new one, and both hdmi ports on the dell 3201c. Nothing works.

The console works with the a/v xbox cable and all resolutions work as well. Is there that much difference between the hdmi cable picture and the a/v hd pictiure?
