Headset mic just randomly stopped working

So I was playing GTA4 Race online having a nice friendly chat with some british people. I decide that i want to play COD4 and pop it in, load the game up and hop on team deathmatch. I then try to talk to my team and notice that my Mic symbol wont pop up. I turn off my controller, unplug the mic, turn on the controller and plug the mic back in and still nothing. I then go back onto GTA4 and try to use the mic and again nothing. So for the last 3 days I've been without a mic.

Has anybody else ever gone through that?

yeah that happend to me on CoD4 aswell they so cheap always break

iv gone through 3 now im just guna get a wirless
