can you use any headset with an equivalent port? or does it have to be the official microsoft xbox 360 ones?

wireless must be official if you want to connect directly to the xbox with it.

there are 3rd party wireless headset manufacturers (usually combined into surround wireless headphones) that work.

other then that, if u must go 3rd party, you will have more luck with wired headsets.

well see the official wired one i had broke and i happened to have a 3rd party wire one. that will work? cool.

no, i think it would work. the first ones that came out i thought itonly worked on officail ones but the new headsets seem to just have one plug in thing.
