They give the player way to much of an advantage its like cheating. I think they take away from the experience of Xbox live online shooting games. They can hear where your shooting from in what direction right or left same with the footsteps. There is no creeping up on someone to get into position to shoot them. It becomes way more apparent of a advantage in hugh maps like battlefield bad company. It even makes players way better then they really are and people without a headset become easy prey. I am a perfect example of this with being an owner of a now useless x31 turtle beach headset (lost the wire at friends house). I get killed way to often now then before. What are your thoughts of this??? (Its becomes such an advantage without a headset ala turtle beach its pointless to play)

I understand your frustration, BUT I own triiton headset ax 120 and they are great. Have tried the turtlebeach or trittons yet? Dont judge us as cheaters, I got mine simply to play at night and not wake up people in the house. you should try them.

Yeah i own the x31 turtle beach headset but lost the wire and now i see that they are online game killers for people who don't own them. The advantage is way to much to be honest. Its not cheating as everyone can go to the store and buy one but its pretty close. It sure takes away the experience and fun of xbox live online gaming when you don't own a headset that gets surround sound. Becomes impossible to be better then someone with a headset.

Depends how you play anyone without a headset can be good if they camp and snipe people all day in one spot. Which leads me to another point that with or without a headset changes how you also play the game. I for one can't do that i like to go down where the action is so that is where a headset really comes into play. Maybe your right lol but with a headset i am up there with all the rest that i play with and without one i am more in the lower to middle pack now with a horrible kill rate ratio i mean just plain awful lol.

i really dont think that they make that much of a difference really, i have Turtle Beach's and honestly dont bother using them most of the time, i only really use them in clan matches

they give you a slight advantage but not a lot really you can still tell using the TV, its just clearer using the headset

if you are good you are good, headset or not, if ur bad then i guess headsets make you a little less bad.....

I have the X11's and I absolutely notice a difference when using them. In CoD if you turn down the music volume while play SnD you can hear where people are extremely clearly. So many people use these headsets now, I almost feel like I have to use Ninja as my 3rd tier perk just to counter the use of headsets. Its just a great headset overall, you hear more sounds in music too.

You think it is dumb people can tell by sound where they are being shot at from? It should be a requirement. I don't think headsets give a clear cut advantage. They help and I love em but to say they are unfair because you can play the game with sound the way you are supposed to hear it? Just go out and get a headset.

If you can't beat em' join em'. And if you can't join em' then get better or give up. Theres not much that can be done about it. Devs aren't going to just drop surround sound support just so those who don't have surround will have a better chance. It's like forcing everyone to play in 4:3 just because not everyone has a wide screen or forcing everyone to hit the button with their face because some people don't have hands.

Fail rant is fail. It's not cheating because its not affecting you or anybody else in anyway. It makes it sound better and since it's right in your ear and the left and right is separated it just makes it easier to tell where people are at. Even when I don't wear mine, I can still tell due to the the TV, just turn the volume up.

Quit being so obnoxious headsets obviously give the people who have them a massive advantage over those who don't have them. I remember when I first got Turtle Beaches and got on MW2 I improved tremoundously. Enough with this "cheating" crap there's a sound difference between cheating and having an advantage. The youtube cod commenters do so good not just because of skill (they are good) but because they likely have 250 dollar headsets, a 62in tv, and a 60mb line. I'm sure if they started playing with what the average person has then they'd perform nowhere near as good. It is unfair because that means people who can throw money around get an advantage on those who can't.

I dont own any special headsets and my kill death ratio is 2.91 and my win loss ratio is 8.08 in black ops and i NEVER use ninja, I dont see much difference in people who do and dont use them, they all die the same.

Yea, it really only gives an advantage in CoD games. It's certainly not cheating if it's something that's built into the game. Get over it!

I have 2-bar connections every game, never pull host, use the mic that came with my Xbox, and play on an SD TV (albeit, it is pretty big), and I have a 2.87 k/d ratio on Black Ops (don't dashboard, open disc tray, turn off console, etc... to avoid having my k/d drop). Your TV, headset, and internet connection only determine so much. Do people with the best headsets/TVs/internet have an advantage? I guess, but if you're good at the game, it really shouldn't matter. I use Flak Jacket or Hardline on every class, no silencers, so I'm a pretty loud player. People can see me pretty clearly (I'm not the kid who's playing hide-and-go-seekin the bushes with Ghost Proon Jungle), andI go guns blazing plenty (my accuracy is pretty bad), so I'm not really afraid of some guy paying tons of attention to the sound of my footsteps/the direction I shot from. When he turns the corner and encounters me, I'm still going to drop him 9 times out of 10(in public matches at least, GBs, probably not lol).

It's really not that serious...

I've never saw the point of those Turtle Beach headsets. Just another thing for gamers with too much money to buy and brag about. A regular pair of headphones are fine. If the only benefit of them is to hear where gunshots are coming from, what's the point?

not cheating in the slightest besides you dont even need expensive headphones to hear were people are coming from. You can hear wear people are coming from even on tv's with crap speakers. Ive done it plenty of times.

I use a headset and I am still a mediocre CoD player. Kind of a bad one actually. If you have the skills then you will beast whether you have a headset or not. Of course it's not cheating.

TC will only be happy if all online matches are playing in SD resolution on dialup connections using mono sound. Seriously someone else having better equipment than you is not an unfair advantage for them. The problem is you are at a disadvantage for not keeping up with the times. Big difference.

The point is having an integrated mic without having to mod the headphones.

@EABGamer You're the one that chooses to play with inferior hardware. If a soccer player shows up to a game wearing a straghtjacket, he doesn't immediately gain the right the call the other players cheaters. The same can be said about somebody using only their TVs speakers. Game developers spend a lot of time and money providing gamers with the ability to use surround sound devices, including headsets. In a situation like this, you really only have yourself to blame.

hahaha. This is funny. Better audio setup = cheating? wtf.

---I crank my surround sound when playing FPS, to the point that Explosions shake the house. Yes, i have been able to hear opposing players coming for a knife kill, only they get suprised by my knife kill at the last second. I love it.

Yea, the fact is, the only forms of cheating involve glitching hacking or modding. That's the bottom line. Man up dude.

It's not cheating. If anything, blame the devs for putting footstep sounds into the game. And besides, people use those headsets to hear everything. Is that so bad?

I fail to understand how having a headset is "cheating". I won't deny it, headsets do give you an advantage, but to go as far as saying that they're cheating and unfair, is stupid. You're being sour and rash. Besides what do you expect online? Everyone to have the same equipment as you do?

If people wanna pay that much for a headset then they sorta deserve a slight advantage. And it's not that big an advantage - if you're good at the game then you will still win with a normal headset most of the time.

But a straightjacket at a soccer game is never used. You should have said as a better comparism - bad, cheap boots. Because saying a straightjacket made you look stupid. If someone has a pair of bad, cheap boots but are good at football, then they will still win. A terrible player with amazing boots will still not do well.

You still got the point though, right?

I've heard about these headphones before but never really looked into them until now. Do people actually spend this kind of money on headphones? It boggles my mind. I guess if you have the extra cash that's cool but I still would think it's too much for an accessory.
