Help- how do I get warranty?

Hello fellow 360 owners,

I just got my 360 a couple of months ago and I've been gone most of the time since. However I heard about the new 3 year warranty for 3 red lights that MS put out. Do I have to sign up for this thing, or do I just ship my 360 in with a receipt if it breaks?
