Hi.

I have the possibility to buy a 360 Core system at a bargain price (199 EUR), but now I'd like to ask those that have tried (bought?) the Elite 360, if you can see any kind of difference in game graphics quality when using HDMI vs the Composite AV cable? It seems that the Elite will be released here in Europe on 1.6.2007, and I don't know if I should wait for the Elite. Does it have the 65 nm CPUs too?

Thx,
/GE

120gb HDD which you could purhase seprately, HDMI support Only if you have a 1080P capable TV, as for the 65nm chip... I don't think its included, but it does run quieter from what I hear.

Oh and Btw DO NOT BUY THE CORE (even if its only 199 eur)  YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Yea, these guys have a point. At this point, it's going to either be the Premium or the Elite. Keep in mind that the Elites have older components than the Premium. Such as the older Samsung DVD drives that keep failing. The Premium has been out on the market for about 15 months, so it's been through various modifications. As for the Elite, it's a new piece of technology, if you want to take that gamble, it's your choice.

I would suggest only purchasing the 360 Elite only if you have a 1080p capable HDTV. Other than that there's absolutely no reason to purchase one.

You can upgrade the Hard Drive yourself Instructions Here: http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/USB%20Hard%20Drive%20Mod.htm

And you can either paint your case black or order a black replacement case from decalgirl.com.

I have a 56" 1080p DLP, so I'll be "upgrading" to the Elite strictly for HDMI, but I'm definitely not ecstatic about it, more bittersweet.

Don't do it man, the Elite is a "half-baked" upgrade, the 360 premium is the way to go right now, if you want an Elite, you should wait at least 6 months- 1 year, that's how long it usually takes MS to patch and de-bug new hardware.

NEVER.  GET.  THE CORE.  I made that mistake and learned you can't do ANYTHING without an HDD.  Get the Premium if you don't have an HDTV, and get the Elite if you DO have an HDTV.

Many thanks for your replies :)

I've got a brand new 320 GB usb hd drive which I don't use at all. So, I could use that one for the 360 then. Do you knwo what kind of data can I store on the USB HD? Game save data? I was thinking of connecting the 360 to my 19" widescreen computer monitor, that would suffice for HD quality, correct?

I believe the only data you're not able to store on the USB HD is marketplace content from XBL, everything else can be saved to it.

Your computer monitor will do just fine as long as you have the VGA to DVI adapter.
