hello,

I am very soon going to buy a Xbox 360. Did I just say that and type that. wow. yes I am going to buy one. I got a deal set up from a friend for a 60GB pack for only $150. I cant pass it down. I am Playstation.3 and alot of games for it. I have played the 360 many of times. just I have liked my PS3 better. just because of the hardware and wireless and stuff. blah blah.

getting to the point. I dont mind to have both systems. just to have it, to turn it on once and a while. I was kind of worry about the Red Ring thing. 3 of my friends got it, it sounds bad, some of my friends want me to have the 360 to play online with them. sounds good and all. just I might have to buy the same games I already have on the other system. I am not a sony fanboy. some people think about, I just dont like trash talk about the ps3 when they dont try to play it or buy it. its really a good system cost the same as the Elite and you get more. I only have wireless internet at my house, the 360 network is $99.... thats $ alot

ok, 1. How bad is the Red Ring Thing ?do I have to worry about that? 2. What games are only on the 360 I might like ? "other than halo"
3. Is there anyway to get wireless other than the $99.. thing. 4. I want GTA4 Lost and Damned. a friend told me you have the have a copy of GTA4 in the system to be able to play Lost and Damned. I know its DLC. but do you Need a copy of GTA4.. I dont want to, I have it on PS3. plays great.

I dont want the system to sit and getting dusty, I want to play it. If I get it and its just sitting there because of all these things, Games and stuff. I will sell the thing for like $20. I play my frriends elite all the time. I play Rainbow six L.V. its good. but also on the ps3 and plays the same.HDMI is nice on ps3. I have a new flat HDTV, I like the HDMI, I read only the Elite gots the port for HDMI.. thats ok. I just wish it was more HD on all the 360s not just that one. I know some of the newer models have the ports. I will look more into that. its really not a big deal.I guess it will still look nice.

I have an open mind about this. its a good thing. I will need some time to get the hang of the controller. and buying AA batterys for it. blah.. I dont like the Idea of playing for the LIve online game play, M$ gots money. why. I mean I already pay for my high-speed internet.. blah. its ok lol

I am going to buy it next week. set up for - xbox360 60GB hard drive, controller, wired headset? "why not blutooth?" and all the power cables and big power Pack. and the tv cables. I just called him, he said that one gots HDMI port. thats good. new model or something. he said its just like new. I turst him on that.

Can any one help me with the things I have ask and said. Please No Trash talking to me or about the ps3. xbox fanboys are very bad about this stuff. I said nothing bad about anything. I am buying the 360. and want to enjoy it. I came here to ask these things. I am asking alot of stuff. and you all should know these things. if you was to ask me something about the ps3 I would tell, I would make a list for you and help, and I would be nice about it all. get the point.

ok. thank you for your time.

have a good day.

Firstly, RRoD is an issue but I've never got it (touch wood, and I've had an original X360 since release). The one thing I've always done is kept my power supply in a large, open space and that way it has no cha

Secondly, it depends entirely what genre you're in to. If you're into that kind of action/free-roam element, then games like Crackdown and Dead Rising may be your kind of thing. Otherwise, you're best off exploring most genres: for an FPS, Halo (as much as you may resent it) and CoD 5 may be worth a shout (and for a third-person shooter keep an eye on Resident Evil 5); for an RPG, Oblivion and its expansion Shivering Isles, Fallout 3, Fable 2 or Mass Effect (especially) are worth a look, and for sports, Madden or FIFA are the only notable franchises.

Thirdly, you are going to need GTA IV to buy List and Damned... After all, it's an expansion DLC pack. Besides, it's worth the playthrough again anyway because you should know how to get all the achievements. :P

Fourthly, you if you already have a wirless router in your house then you can buy a Wirless Network adapter. I brought and and the single it recieves from my router downstairs, to my Xbox upstairs, is brilliant. It definitely didn't cost that much though. :?

Regarding the controller it's super easy to get used to, and you have two options: either buy a wired variant of your controller, or buy a wireless one and get a rechargeable battery pack. The investment is worth it, because the money it costs to continually buy new batteries is a such a pain.

With the headset, you have two options also: the wired headset, or the wirless headset. If you think you make leave the former lying around, then get the latter, you don't want to have to buy a new one after it gets ruined.

And I'm going to say one thing: don't compare everything to the PS3. That's only going to ruin your experience.

:)

1 - RRD ... My 360 just got the RRD a few weeks ago and I bought it on release date. thats a little over 3 yrs. for $150? its worth it. especially with the 2 yr warranty 2 - Fable II , Scene It? , Gears of War 1 for single player(cuz online most people r on GeOW2), and Gears of War 2 for single and multiplayer , Street Fighter IV comes out today , Fallout 3 , Dead Space, and almost all Ubisoft games have better reviews on the 360, atleast for now =P 3 - Costco . it costs $85 there. Look it up. I got it =P 4 - I know theres an option to copy a game onto ur hard drive, but I've never tried it. C if u can copy a friends GTA onto ur harddrive and try to play it without the cd. maybe it'll work and u wont have to. I play the ps3 often at a friends house. The only reason ps3 users r scared of the 360 control is becuz its been the same since the ps1 so ur used to it. I find the ps remote to b waaay too small. i admit the FIRST xbox remote was friggin' huge but once u got used to it it was ok. the 360 control is perfect, the buttons r practically in the same spot as the ps control but the handle part is longer to fit ur whole hand (less cramps) RECHARGABLE BATTERIES r a must. its convenient . U dont have to constantly be buying batteries. And if u buy an extra rechargable battery with a charge stand, u dont ever have to go wired to charge, u can simply swap the battery and stay wireless. ALL 360's have HDMI ports now. It comes with a wired headset for free but u can buy a wireless one for $45. I got it =P ps3 Hardware wise is amazing and far superior and gaming is fun ... but the 360 online experience and now Netflix feature ... it just fits me better. Hope i was helpful.

ok, I think you for trying to help me, but most of them games you named off are also on the ps3. like fallout and soon RE5 and dead space and more.

if its only Gears of war and Halo.. then its not a big deal to me. I ask for help on all of these matters. you just know what you talking about before you try to help some one. If I was to see someone ask this on the ps3 board I would make a list of things games" hardware stuff. and help the best I could. I understand the RED Ring is an over heating thing. I hope that dont happen. to me. it wont happen If I dont have any games to play in the first place. its like this. if I already have the game for PS3 I am not buying it again for another system. its the same. I am asking about 360 games ONly. and ask about Red Ring and about wireless internet. about help with GTA4 Lost and damned, please some one help me.

thank you for you time.

Ok the RROD is still possible but the chances of getting it is lower due to better console versions(Jasper and falcon just google it if you wanna know more). Then with the NXE(New xbox experience) you can install games(Not mandatory) which will lessen the chances of disc drive problems and heat. It takes around 5 or ten minutes and will take around 6 GB per game. You can use Ebay to get the adapter for cheaper around $60(US).

Well the Rrod is bad but if you get 1 ring then just switch off your console, and then it is avoided. But the newer made consoles do not get it so much anymore.

Alright....

So you want an xbox 360 and you have a ps3? Go ahead and indulge yourself! The xbox 360 has many unique features and will provide you with a lot of enjoyment. The 360 has netflix and several exclusive titles. Listen to your fellow posters they speak the truth. Titles like Gears of War and Halo, Mass Effect and othes are exclusive to the 360 and provide many hours of entertainment. You should not worry about the Red Rings of Death - many of those issues have been solved, however, you should be prepared to have it happen. Don't be surprised, just be ready.

I have both systems, ps3 and 360. I use them both for different purposes, not just for games. Ps3 = bluray, 360 = netflix. Many games are multiplatform these days and that is something you need to think about and give some weight to in your decision to purchase a 360 when you already have a ps3. Both systems are great, but be sure that your 300-500$ will be put to good use.

Oh... and your fellow posters have already helped you.

I'm a little mystified why you go to such lengths to state you're not a fanboy of anything, when the best way to do that is simply not to mention other systems at all. Here, I'll rewrite your post:

Hi, I'm getting a 360 from a friend. Some questions: How big of a deal is the RROD these days? What games might I like? Is there a way to get wireless other than the $99 adapter? Do you need GTA4 to play Lost and Damned?

Red_Matt should have

There you go. You wrote a page-long post to ask four questions. Save yourself some typing. I'll answer your questions now:

  1. Newer systems are better about hardware failure than older systems. That said, systems still fail sometimes. Keep your Xbox well-ventilated and hope you don't have to send it in for three weeks. I'd recommend an in-store warranty, but you're not buying yours new.
  2. I have no idea. Xbox has a large library of games, spanning every genre. I might be able to answer this if you'd spent some of your post real estate on describing what games you like, instead of going on for paragraphs about how non-fanboyish you are. You did say you like Rainbow Six. If you like that, you'll probably like Gears of War.
  3. No, not that I know.
  4. I'm pretty sure you do.

Regarding another issue you raised, buying AA batteries, there are two easy solutions to that problem. First, you can buy Microsoft's play-and-charge kit for about $40. Secondly, you can buy some rechargeable batteries and a charger at Wal-mart for about $20; that's what I did.

If you can't ask simple questions without bringing a whole lot of System Wars attitudes in with you, don't ask your questions.
