I need some help getting started streaming videos from my computer to my xbox 360. I DL windows media player 11 and when I go to share media no devices are in the box for me to enable. It says xbox should be there but its not I can access the internet and live no problem. I read that it may be a firewall issue and I have Norton Antivirus 2007 but I cant find were to access the firewall from norton. I know this is only a small problem and I will probably have more but can anyone help me to at least get my CPU to acknowledge my 360.

you dont need windows media center edition..... first you have to have your PC and 360 online at the same time through a router, then just go into windows media player 11 and where it says library click the little arrow thats pointing down and go where it says media sharing, then go to the xbox 360 blue dashboard-video and click where it says computer, then go to connect to PC or something like that and it will start looking for your PC, and then in WMP11 it should say Xbox 360 and click where it says allow and you're done.

first you have to switch your norton firewall off. turn windows firewall on. make a home network. manualy open the ports in the windows firewall settings. open your router settings by ticking in you IP in the browser andadd your 360 as client.

check this site for the ports you have to switch open manualy.

check help on your pc for making a home network.

I got mine working without touching ports. The ports are more for xbox live are they not? As long as you have your computer on a home network, the xbox should be able to automatically find it. Go to xbox settings I think under network, something like "connect to PC" or something, and it should do a test to search for it. then again, this is using vista, not xp.

I think the ports aremore for sharing. maybe with vista the ports will open automatic. for xp however you need to open them manualy. when you download mediaplayer 11, some ports will open during the installation process, but not all of them. the rest are listed in te link from my first post. took me about a day to connect the 360 with pc for sharing lol. I had to allow my 360 as client in my routersettings aswell. but I guess that depends on you router.
