I just bought a new toshiba regza lcd hdtv and it says that its supposed to display 480i,480p,720p,1080i but it dosent seem to look at great and I set the xbox to 1080i for games.  The resolution looks a little crappy for some reason.  The size of the tv is 37" btw.  Am I supposed to get a special cable or something ? I have it hooked up in a colorsteam hd1 port. Thank you very much for any help.

Try the Component port.  The one with the Blue, Green, Red.  Switch your 360 from TV to HDTV.  I'm not to sure what colorstream is though.  I hope this helps ya out.

make sure you're using the HD wires that came with the 360. Also, try 720p. 720p and 1080i are very much a like. There's no difference between 720p and 1080i, it's just what your TV main resolution is. So, try 720p.

Also, make sure you switch the plug from your 360 to your tv to hdtv.  The switch is located on the wide portion that plugs into your 360.

Thank you.  Ya,  I had the thing hooked up correctly but its in 1080i.  I guess ill try it out in 720p.  I am playing some older games for the 360 as I havent bought any recently, could this be the issue ? I tried out oblivion, graw 1, just cause and doa 4.  Things like peoples shadows look sorta blurry and some of it just dosent look that great.  Is there an hdmi cable for the 360 or do I just use the colorsteam ports or video ports ? Also, when I use the dvd playback do regular dvd's only display in 480i and 480p ? Thank you again :).

do not use the colorstream.  Use the Video ports.  Not the Yellow,White, and Red. Use the Blue,Green, and Red and plug them into the Component Ports.  HDMI will only work with an Elite, if you have an Elite then yes use that.

if you look at the video cable going into your xbox you will see a switch on the side, make sure its switched to HD and not just regular tv. It took me ages to find out what was wrong with mine.

Pretty much everything that has been mentioned before me.  720 might be your main one so just roll with that.

If that is a joke then not funny!!  U need the red blue and green to plug into the red blue and green in your tv.  They are color coded for a reason.  This is knowledge you should have been born with, unless your 60.

Actully he did, he was just confused about what colorstream is. Colorstream is just some thing Toshiba sorta made up. The real name for the red green and blue wires is component. And that's what you should be using for an hdtv.

its the component cables those are the red blue and green cables and they do go in the red blue and green ports on your tv, then you swith the xbox cable over to HDTV and you should be good to go, whatever your TV refers to it as, colorstream or whatever is not important   ^^^beat me to it^^^

should display in 480p with the component cables on an hdtv....strange that it looks bad though with the component cables... i have a 32" sony lcd and it looks pretty good in 720p....not spectacular though....halo 3 looks kind of pixelated....the lcd is a couple years old though.... who knows

It is actually working pretty well.  Everyone seems pretty impressed that has seen it so far.  I guess im just being kind of critical since I just spent so much on a tv :P.
