i bought the wireless adapter and whenever i try 2 use it is reports back as "disconnected", the light is a steady red though which means it should be connected

sum1 told me it was my xbox so i sent it in 4 repairs, i just got it back and i'm still having the same exact problem any suggestions?

and the adapter isn't breaking because i used it on my neighbors 360

Buddy, that adapter is a piece of crap.

I had it, never worked.

I bought a 500 ft. ethernet cable, a few drill holes later I've racked up over 100,000 kills and have a 2.13 k/d ratio on CoD4. Get the long ethernet cable. :)

I have a wireless adapter, and it works fine (except for random jumps in ping occasionally, but that's to be expected with any WiFi usage). You might want to check your wireless router, and make sure it's compatible with the wireless adapter. If not, you may want to buy a new router, or go with ethernet cables.
