HELP!!! Xbox keeps putting many scratches on my disc!!!

My Xbox 360 has been putting many fine scratches on my disc! Microsoft keeps telling me the only way this happens is if I move the xbox 360 with the disk in it but I don't. I have my 360 horizontally and I have a 20GB hardrive so I can't install my games! Can sombody please tell me what to do?!?

yeah i think it has done this to two of my games also.. i bought some disc cleaner stuff and it seems to be helping, but not sure how to make it stop

Install games to HDD. - faster load times - doesn't scratch disk - reads scratched disk - 5 gb per game - quieter system - prevents rrod

How old is your XBOX? I know the older XBOX's have the disc drive issue.

I'd recomment replacing it. They run pretty cheap for a used working drive, you can get the service done on ebay for relatively sheap like around $40.

Possibly less if you buy one and find someone to install it, or install it yourself.

There are plenty of alternatives. Try using google

bring the disc to microplay because they have a resurfacing machine which will take off scrathes but not very deep one. Then consult the xbox site.

I have a 20 gig and i have 2 games installed.

That approx. 12 GB, do you also use USB flash storage? You can get up to 16 GB from that.

What type of xbox is it. I mean like is it and arcade or elite because some of the older types might not be working

I have a Pro. I can not install games because I have all this other content in the hardrive that I want to keep! Please give me suggetions that don't have to do with installing the game!

yup i called microsoft last july too but they couldn't do anything about it so then i asked the lady on the phone about the towel wrapping and shower thing and she said she wouldn't recommend it but i did it anyways and its worked fine since then it has a dent or 2 but it works fine
