I'm looking for anyone who may have had similar problems that I'm currently having with my 360 and can help.

Last night I turned on my Xbox 360 and everything started up fine...all of the live features were working, Xbox Live arcade games play, movies, demos....etc.

But when I tried playing a game after 5 minutes into it the screen would freeze with weird little dots all over the picture.  Each time I started it up...the same thing.  Everything works normal until I put a disc in...any disc.  I tried every game in my library.

All day today the 360 has been doing the exact same thing.  It boots up fine, I can play demos and arcade for hours but when I put in a disc it freezes my system after 5 or so minutes.

I tried: Changing discs, removing the hardrive, changing the power outlet its plugged into, letting it cool, disconnecting it from LIVE and lasty unplugging everything and plugging it back in.

I'm NOT getting the 3 red lights but after playing a disc for 5 minutes the system will just freeze...Every time!

Has this happened to anyone?  Any recommendations or ideas on what the problem is and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

This happened to me the day before I got the three red lights telling me my system had a hardware failure.  Sounds like your box is going down the same road :(  I'd suggest calling 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and going through their tests.  They'll probably tell you to send it out for repairs.

petrolhead

Are you saying that his warranty was good when he shipped it but expired in transit to MS and they made him pay to fix it???  No F'n way, that can't be possible.  Holy smokes man, I already called MS and they told me they were shipping me a box and I should have it in about 2 weeks.  For my problems they're giving me an extra 90 days of LIVE service...(woo hoo)

Is there a static noise when the dots appear?  This happened to me a few times during the Halo 3 beta (I thought it was just crashing)...then it did it again, I got the ring of death, and now I have to send it in...so you're 360 might be on its last legs.
