1) Is wi-fi a internet connection tool?

2) Does the slim have wifi? If it does, so I can get connected when I try xbox live GOLD?

Please answer. Thank you.

No, it doesn't come with built in WiFi. You will need to buy the WiFi adapter which is about $50-$80. Then, you can connect to any open connection or available connections if you have the password.

It does? It's really been too long since I paid attention. I saw someone on another forum complaining about 360 still charging so much for the adapter. I'm really glad to see that it has built in WiFi.. I definitely knew that at one point when I was considering upgrading but forgot over the time. I checked after I saw Flamingpostman's response and saw that it does have WiFi. Sorry about that. It does have built in wifi. Good stuff, thanks

No. Wi-fi is just a tool that picks up a wireless signal. You still need something to give out that signal.

As long as you have a wireless network in your house then yes the xbox slim should connect to it and as long as you have a xbox gold account you can play online.

Yes, the Xbox 360 slim contains an internal Wi-Fi feature, so you can connect to the internet without a wireless gaming adapter or having to hook it directly into your router. It works very well too!

But yes, in case you're confused, you must have a modem and router giving off a Wireless connection before being able to use the internal wi-fi feature on the console.

Stevo7991
No. The wifi is the adapter. You have the wifi adapter built in, but in order for that to be at all useful you will need something sending the wireless signal. There isn't just free internet/wifi everywhere and that's why people pay companies like Verizon to install internet boxes in their homes. If you live in a hotel or apartments they might have wifi that you pay for but probably slow for games. You're online now, so what internet company do you use? Is it cable/dsl/high-speed? Now for something to send the wireless signal than you would need a wireless router or wireless modem. Wireless modem only one thing can connect online at a single time, but with a wireless router multiple pc's and 360's can connect at once within a certain range. If you live close enough to a neighbor you can maybe leech off their connection but they can see that and can kick you off. You will probably need a wireless router which will be fairly cheap.

Dude here it is as clear as possible: The new Xbox 360 "slim" model has built-in wi-fi. This means that if you already have wireless internet set up in your house (as in: a computer with high speed internet service and a wireless router hooked up to it) then you can go online with your Xbox 360 without buying any additional adapters or cables. Once again, all you need is: - a computer - high speed internet service - a wireless router - an Xbox Live Gold account and viola, you can play online on your Xbox 360.

This is what I was saying.. You have a built in adapter but that's only to receive the connection. You'll still need a wireless modem or wireless router with an ISP to receive the connection. Sometimes people get lucky and are able to pick up a connection from their neighbor without a password, but it's always best to have your own connection, with Comcast, Verizon or whatever else you'll need the internet.

Stevo .. I'd flame you but the mods are strict here.

Dude you're the one who deserves the flaming when you came out and said it has no in built adapter without getting your facts right.

wifi means that you can connect to the internet without using a wire, the new slims have it, the ps3 has it, the old 360s DONT have it, but you need a router for your modem for it to work which costs money
