Hey I am a n00b that needs advice about playing Gears of War online

I finally tried playing this game online last night and tonight. I am horrible at it. It seems like my dude drops dead the moment I even glance at the other team. People talk so much trash and everyone seems to have nearly all the achievements which means they have been playing it online a lot. It makes for a very hostile environment.

The thing that drives me nuts is the team that is winning will say things like "Please don't drop out" one second and then just start ragging on you in the next second. I guess I should just turn off the mic. :cry:

Anyway I am decent at Halo and TF2 so I figure I can be good at this.

Any advice?

Move around alot, don't use the lancer too often to avoid trashtalk, play player matches for a few months b4 u go to ranked, less trash in player matches, plus u might get some friends, and once u got regulars to play with, u won't wanna stop, have fun.Keitarourashima

See here^^^ That's the kind of attitude that everyone has on Gears. Any other online game you can get advice or tips. On Gears all I have gotten is a bunch of bile.

It seems fairly interesting I just don't know where the good weapons on the map are or understand how much damage am I doing or even the most basic strategy for fighting as a team.

Yeah here is some good advice: Don't play it.

Far too laggy, No tactical play .Everyone is running around shotgunning everyone.

Stick to Rainbow 6 vegas.

rainbow six is too laggy aswell......

Umm actually I haven't had much problems with lag on Gears once I started using the custom match feature instead of going with the quick match thing.

As for tactics...yeah I guess the shotgun and the sniper rifle are the most useful weapons and the game doesn't encourage team play on the ranked modes but there is definitely some kind of strategy people are using.

Ok if you listen to any advice listen to these few things...

1. Never Stand still and never stay in one place for too long.

2. Quick Aim with your shotgun that means press left trigger and move your crossair onto your enemy and shoot then let go and move.

3. Do not pick up the sniper!

4. Do not try and chainsaw unless your trying to do it to someone coming around a corner.

5. If all else fails Two Piece. A two piece is when you go up to someone with your shotgun press the B button take a step back and shoot its almost fool proof.

6. If someone is double meleeing you always hold the right trigger you might die, but a lot of the time you'll fire off a shot while your going down and kill them.
