Hi, I ordered an XBOX 360 from walmart.com, because I wanted finally step up and get a true next-gen system lol.  Well any way's I was wondering if these "achievements" can be turned in to marketplace points?  If this is not true, well lets just talk about wishful thinking, but it will be a nice acentice program;)

Also, does anyone have any pointers on maintaining you're XBOX360, in other words prolonging the life, because I have heard so many things on how unreliable the system is.  An idea of mine is to probably disconnect the power brick after every use.  If you have any suggestions, they will be greatly appreciated!!!:D

The Achievements can't be used or traded in for marketplace points unfortunately... it's a good idea... But microsoft are money mongering crazy people and will never do it... They are just a way to make games replayability higher, and to make playing games more accomplishing.

For maintaing your xbox 360... That really just depends... I've had mine since launch and haven't really had ANY problems whatsoever... Except I believe it's froze about 3 times overall.

Just don't keep it running for TOO long... Like overnight or something doing nothing... That could help :P.

I guess just take care of it overall... Some people have problems no matter how good they took care of it... So, just do everything you can to prolong the life... Make sure you have a nice big fat warrenty, and do whatever it takes ot keep it running and alive.

Most of the newer ones don't have as many problems though, considering they are newer... Most of the ones that are having troubles are the older ones which are finally just crapping out from a lot of factors.

There are contests which are related to achievement points. Just recently, there was a contest to get 1000 points within a couple weeks for 200 Microsoft Points. The only thing you need to do in order to maintain the 360 is the following: 1) Place it on a hard surface. 2) Allow plenty of air flow. 3) Keep it at the very bottom of any other compnents (heat rises). 4) Keep the power brick far away since it generates heat. You don't need to disconnect anything. Mine has been plugged in since Dec 18, 2005. The 360 may use some power when off for certain things, so it's best to leave the plug connected. You can literally leave the 360 on 24 hours a day. Just follow the steps above, and it will be fine. Finally, don't move the 360 when it has a disk inside. If you move the 360, take the disk out first.

My cousin said that it's better to have it horizontally, because it has a better chance of scratching disks when positioned vertically!!!
