You have a gears of war Avatar...
And I didnt preorder it cause I didnt preorder Halo 2, I walked right into the store and got a Limited Edition.

i didn't pre order but just from what i hear every store should have plenty
The stores are going to be well stocked. There is no need to preorder. And, if you don't like sci-fi games then get rid of the gears avatari didnt pre-order or even claim halo 3 because simply i hate sci-fi games.zidan4000
And yet you have Marcus Fenix as your avatar?
Must say I agree with the sentiment, atleast for FPS games anyway. I have not pre-ordered Halo 3 because I have very little interest in over-hyped yet mediocre games.
Didnt pre-order it. But im gonne be at the EB Games in my city (Buffalo, NY) For the midnight Launch @ about 8pm the night before, and me and my roomates are going to the store, each getting 2 2-liters of Mt.Dew Game fuel. And standing there untill the store opens.ToySolider62
lol hope ya bring a port-o-let
Strange isn't it? How pre-ordering has become so popular. It doesn't seem that long ago we had to wait for launch day & do things the old fashioned way.
I remember going into get a game a few years back, what was it now....... I can't remember. Anyhow, standing there, cash in hand, & this spotty Harry Potter lookalike tells me they might not have a copy to sell me. I remember getting pretty annoyed as there were like 50 copies sat behind the counter (reserved). I couldn't understand why I, as a cash ready customer, couldn't just buy one of the copies that, in all fairness might be sat there for days & days.
I wouldn't dream of doing that now. What with all these crazy sites I get games the day before release, sometimes sooner if I go the Hong Kong route.
I'm sure you'll be able to just walk im a buy a copy. Halo 3 is the biggest game since god decided he was bored & wanted to start a project that would take 7 days. :)
As far as games go, preordering is just a gimmick to lock you in to a particular store for purchase.
I went into a Best Buy on Halo 2 launch day and they had more copies than they could sell, I expect the same for Halo 3.
I might preorder if I lived in the stix.
The whole idea of pre-ordering anything is completely stupid. All you are doing is promising now - through your deposit - to buy a product later from a certain retailer. Gamestop, Amazon, Best But, etc. aren't doing you a favor by 'saving' a copy for you, they are just creating a false sense of urgency that convinces some people to go ahead and commit to buying the game from them and not from someone else. Seriously, when was the last time ANY game was sold out anywhere? Espescially a game that the producers know will sell lots of copies on the opening days. You can be sure there are MOUNTAINS of copies of Halo 3 ready to go in warehouses across the country.Bet me thatI won't be able to buy it onopening day in any number of stores just by walking in......backinthekrak

I agree. All the retailers, Best Buy, Gamestop etc. like to use these "scare" tactics into getting people to lock themselves into buying it from their respective stores. I feel that reserving a new system when it comes out is essential if you want it on launch day but remember this is only software which is much easier to manufacture in mass quantities and there will be plenty to go around for anyone who walks into the store that day and wants one.

I would have bought from my local game store regardless because it's closer than any other store.
And don't think of it as reserving a copy that might be sold out, think of it as putting a down payment down. I only paid $35 for Halo 3 yesterday because I had already thrown down the reston thepre-order 2 months earlier. A little easier on the pockets if you ask me.
So, no, pre-ordering is not stupid, it's nice and convenient if you look at it the right way.
