Hey guys,

On average how long does it take for games to drop in price?

I'm thinking of getting Halo 3 but its still full price after being out for over a year. I'm thinking of holding back for a price drop at this point because I don't want to buy it, only to have it reduce in a few months

Thanks guys

I am looking for halo 3 and I can get it for about £12 now. More expensive then some games which were out later then it.

I guess it depends how popular the game is?

As halo 3 is very popular.

I am still playing COD: WAW at the moment though lol

It varies based on a games success. A game like Halo 3 takes around a year or two before finally dropping in price. I'd say theres a very good chance that Halo 3's price will go down to somthing like fifty or fourty dollars next year. Why do you want Halo 3? If it's for multiplayer only, then you might want to hold off until Halo 3: ODST comes out. It's suppose to include Halo 3's multiplayer with all of the downloadable maps. And Bungie wants to release it for under sixty dollars.

Yeah I only want it for multiplayer. I thought ODST was an expansion though? Meaning you'd need the original?

then again i guess expansions don't work like PC's do (trend is they charge you full price for a game you've already bought! lol like Oblivion)

It's a stand alone expansion. Meaning that you don't actually need the original game to play it.

As long as there is a massive demand for a game, the price will not drop significantly as you see with most games within three to six months after release. Especially, with games that have an expansive online community such as Halo3 or Call of Duty 4.

Where did you guys read this? Just hoping it's true lol Does this mean I'll be able to play all the original Halo 3 maps without buying Halo 3 (valhalla, high ground etc.)? Or does it just mean that I get access to play multiplayer with halo 3 people, but only get the maps that come with ODST and have to download every other map

There.. go get your Halo 3 for cheaper. It is $40, but it is cheaper. Also if your ok with waiting then you can choose free shipping and handling (so it will be 39.99.... Amazon has no tax... unless you live Cali).

Different area of the question, but how long on average does it take for XBLA titles (arcade) to drop in price? For instance, I like the new game Death Tank, but 1200 MSP ($15) is a bit steep. How many months should I expect before it's knocked down to 800 or 600? I.e. Braid just dropped from similar price, and it's only been out for 6 months, but the success of this game could be different, so I don't know. Anyone have a clue?
