You minus well wait until the 2008 versions come out, but if you really want one i would say Nhl 2k7.  Just preference.

As a long time hockey player, having had tryouts in the Quebec Major Junior as well as playing on a Junior A team, I have to say that myself, as well as every single hockey player I know leans toward NHL 07, it relays the game alot better then the 2k franchise does.

The flow in the EA game far surpases that of 2K7, and you really can't beat the skill stick for control. If you want a raw fun game of hockey, with AMAZING goaltending, you have to pick NHL 07.

 Hands down.

Thanks for the comments. I was leaning toward NHL 2007, but I was also thinking about just waiting for the 2008 version to come out.

with terrible goaltending... that all you have to do is shoot from the top of the point to score... Nhl 07= Better Graphics/Menus/Songs Nhl 2k7= More Realistic/Franchise/Descent Graphics

I think I'm a pretty good judge because I own both games.  They both have a lot of pluses.  Lately EA has been frustrating me with their lack of innovation and each iteration of the franchise hasn't seemed to improve that much in years past.  This year they put a LOT into the skill stick and I have to admit, I absolutely LOVE it.

I owned NHL 2K7 first and played through a couple seasons in Franchise mode and I'm a big fan of that game.  The thing is, based on controls and visuals NHL '07 takes it this year.  I haven't picked up 2K7 since I bought the EA game.  I was a little disappointed at the lack of variety that NHL '07 brought to the table but I'm hoping that they'll include more modes next year.  Both are worthy of buying, if you buy one, make it NHL '07 this year.
