Hockey or Football?

The only boxed games I buy are ones that I can play with endlessly on my own or with people in my dorms (in college). So between Madden 09 Collector's Edition or NHL 2009 (or NHL 2k9) which do you like and why?

(Please don't say because one game or the other sucks, I wouldn't consider buying it if I thought it did.)

hahah yea I have a Mighty Ducks friend and I'm a big Sabres follower. But I'll play as the Maple Leafs for the sake of saying that. I like NHL 09 though for it's 6 on 6 online multiplayer, I just don't know how good the goalie control is. On the other hand I want Madden Collector's Edition because I want to really get into NFL Head Coach on my own and then play Madden with friends.

I wish more Americans liked hockey......

NHL by far my fav, actually its the only sports game i play...

08 was crazy good, i played a bit of 09 and its just as good!

misleading title as you're asking about ice hockey and american football, not hockey or football

I prefer NHL over Madden, and think Ice Hockey makes for a better multiplayer game with a faster pace. As Madden relies a lot on selecting your tactics, seeing what your opponent is doing on split screen is a bit unfair.

Get NHL09, stay far far farrrrrrr away from NHL2k. NHL08 was sports game of the year from tons of sources last year, beating out Skate and Madden.

Madden is ok for your fix, but it's not that much of an overhaul from 08. NHL09 is adding Superstar/Online Leagues and tons of gameplay additions.

Honestly there really isnt a comparison. NHL is such a better game and the online leages that are going to be in 09 are going to be rediculous. GO DEVILS!!!!!!!!MastaP110

Nice, Devils fan here too. I live in New Jersey though, can't wait to go see the opener at Prudential, the off season isn't going by fast enough.

NHL'09 for sure madden isn't changed much and 6-on-6 if it's as good as '08 as it should be if not better gor for NHL '09
