It's Xbox LIVE!!! Get over it!!!

People like this simply serve to reinforce their behaviour by rationalizing it through ad hominem fallacies and saying things like "Hey, it's Xbox Live man, people are supposed to be douchebags." I agree, it's a waste of time playing many games on multiplayer. There ARE some alternative options. RTSs and MMORPGs tend to lack an abundant amount of profane people. Usually because people that play these games have a more fully developed diction. Or, just stop playing online. It isn't necessary, and it certainly doesn't compare to a well-developed narrative and engaging single-player gameplay.
Sometimes, I get the feeling that the confrontational kids are reacting to a perceived increase in the number of casual gamers on Live. You know, because they've been playing games since the launch of the original Xbox, when video gaming was raw, and are Hardcore and old-school, bwahaha.
So, just stop playing, or make fun of their puberty. They'll be in awe of your dropped balls.
Just dont play with your mic on and only use the mic when talking to friends on live, thats the best option.Alidude3
Best. Advice. Ever. Seriously though, I never talk to people online because as soon as I enter a Halo or Gears lobby it's always people making racial slurs or talking about my username or whatever. I just plug the headset in so the sound doesn't come out of my speakers. To be honest, unless it's really strategy oriented I don't give a crap what people have to say online.

No, we shouldn't "Get over it"! We pay monthly to enjoy games online and I don't think these little jerks and some times 20-30 year old jerks have the right to ruin it. Just because your anonymous doesn't give you the right to say hurtful and hateful things to others. Also this abuse of the feedback system is getting ridiculous!
How would you like it if I came to where you worked or lived, face to face, and berated you?? Would you like that? Probably not, so what makes this any different. Some people don't understand that a thing like common courtesy still applies even in a virtual environment. So no, I'm not getting over it.

yup, i ditched the mic over a year ago, have had zero problems since
I don't mind it, afterall its the internet, you can be whoever you want to whenever you want to. I expect alot of trash talk especially during violent games like Gears. What do you expect people to say while chainsawing you into pieces! Learn to use the mute button, its there for a reason you know.

It could also be your Gamerzone that is attracting these "hoodlums." I use to have my gamerzone be Pro and I encountered these players on a day to day basis. Once I changed to Recreation, I have encountered them less and less. In my opinion, these kind of players crack me up. Its like they have nothing better to do then insult people to make themselves feel better about who they are. I've heard two people going at it that were in the same party on CoD 4. I was laughing so hard that I was tearing up.
