ok i know this is gunna sound sad... but im thinking about getting one, i have wanted one forever, i just need to know one thing...

do i need a modum for online? or can i just hook up w/ a phone jack?

the 360 has a ethernet plug in the back so all u need is high speed internet like sbc or cable.

you need DSL/Cable/FTTH/Any connection to the internet still used in modern day.

360 connects via ethernet port, which means you need a router or similar.

look dial up internet would not work, u need high speed internet which goes for around 30 a month or cable which is more expensive but faster.

It's totally worth it though. I would try for fiber optic internet, it's the best. :)

most of the best games on the 360 aren't even online, you don't need it to enjoy the experience, I would say get it anyway. Mass Effect, Assasin's creed, Eternal Sonata, Even Halo 3 ans COD4 have great offline, single player campaigns.

Why modem is a generic name for any device which allows an internet connection be it broadband or 56k. ie. dsl modems. And seriously why do soo many people never have anything constructive to say.

TC you will need a modem and a broadband connection and the option of a router if you would like multiple connections such as computers.

You are gonna need high speed internet to play online, either DSL or cable.
