Been trying a speedwall, one of the very first ones you do, and there's no possible way i can complete it! I never crash, go through most or all of the shorcuts, and i still end up with bronze... it's really frusturating! anyone have any advice?

i can't remember what speedwall is off my head but i tell you these things maybe will help
~Not all shorts are designed for you to get ahead faster. Some are a waste time, some are longer then the actule road it self creating a great opportunities for a racer get behind a cop or lose them, so learn what faster and whats a waste of time
~ Cars is not always great on dirt, some just pure suck, some work great on dirt, some doesn't get effected. Cars are lower to ground like the higher speed cars, don't waste your time going off road you lose speed and only the very good shortcuts work. Higher off the ground cars like sports and that they work much better off the road.
~E BREAK isn't always the best plan just taping L and letting go of the gas for a second on some turns works better the drifting. drifting doesn't allow you gain your speed back up while turning that corner but just taping on L for a second will allow get around some while getting your speed back up
There is a time trail in career early start where you become a cop and you have to get to A to B in 1:51 seconds for gold. this is when i learned this. it's a a low car stay off the short cuts besides the one goes under the bridge. it's called (DO LOOK AFTER IT)
try that out and see what happens.
so wait, are you saying i should use the X button brake for turning corners, or the L trigger break?? I'm still having tons of trouble, i can barely get 3rd place in races and the cars that the CPUs are using have the same stats, if not lower than my car.. so this feels pretty cheap.

Use LT for braking around corners and Nitrous for coming out of them.
In other words, tap LT when approaching a corner, let it go and then hit the gas again, rinse and repeat if neccesary.
Keep an eye on the minimap to see if theres any useful shortcuts/sharp turns coming up.
Only use Nitous when accellerating, comin out of turns or tring to overtake. Using it at top speed is a waste as it'll only bump the car up another few mph.
Also, use the right cars for the right tracks. i.e. read the race description before you start to get an idea of what you're up against.
I am still waiting to get more reviews before I buy.BzTheMan
Its excellent, what more could you expect from a Criterion Game - Fast, beautiful and FUN.
Also seeing as the game came out far more than a week ago, I dunno what reviews you're waiting on, they're pretty much all out.

agreed. i haven't played a racing game since 2006. why? 1: after need 4 speed most wanted was the last good looking n4s 2: i hate boring racing games all you do is fly down the track and nothing more. so back when E3 they said cops was returning but no open world? i was like wtf but when i read igns review when it came out they gave it a 9. so the next day i went to the store and got it and i am so glad i did. i been playing it every day 3-4 hours at a timeyes, the game is very difficult, and the time trial goals are frustrating. It's good practice though, because when you go online you'll find most of the racers are very good. I'll say play through all of the events, and then go back for golds in the events you still need it on. By the time you get to the end you'll have improved your skill and picking up the golds wont be as much of a chore. With drifting, most cars drift better with the foot break. A few cars drift ok with the hand break, but for tight corners the foot break will be better. The hand break is good for medium corners, as it doesn't slow you down much if you keep your foot on the gas and only tap the hand break. all and all drifiting with the foot break is harder.Been trying a speedwall, one of the very first ones you do, and there's no possible way i can complete it! It's a blast. it's just racing and it's racing done right. they went back to the roots of the series, back when it was still good.... This game will get your heart beating.

I say definitely buy it because it really gets intense after you start unlocking better cars.Alright, well I'm really thinking of trading this in or selling now. I've tried all the advice you guys have given me and I can't do anything. Can't win time trials (only pass, but barely) can't win hot pursuits, and probably takes me 10 or more tries to do interceptor missions.
Is it because I don't have fast enough cars yet? I just now unlocked the BMW M3. I think my fastest car right now is the Jaguar XK R or the Alpa Romeo BC. Are there better, faster cars to use so that I can actually win?
Please convince to me to keep this game. I had so much hope for it, and was so excited to play another Hot Pursuit game but this isfrustratinglydifficult and quite cheap.
Those who are waiting... stop whatever you are doing and go buy it.
;)
On topic. its a challenge but then the old burnout games got pretty tense too si I expected a few harder race's/trials. Still best racing game since, um, well I can't remember its been so long but prob the old burnouts.
BAD? where this game is all good. no bad in this gameI'm hearing both good and bad about this game now...
Not sure if I'll get for Christmas...

Thats what is called "a challenging game" my friend. You only beat them once you get better at it. Taking it back because its too hard is a pretty sad reason :o You can do EEEEEEET!really looking for one last chance, haha

TC's dilemma reminds me of the Burnout games where if you are winning the majority of the race and you mess up slightly just once, the CPU comes dashing past you at 600MPH to light speed and you can never catch up to them again. I love racing games, but I hate games that give the CPU an unfair edge like that. I hope this game isn't like that.wwervinI love this game to death but I can admit the bots are rigged to all hell. Those bots sometimes drift around corners faster than a real player can drive flat out. Still fun but those damn bots....
