I've worked at a decent amount of stores that sell games (not game stores just stores that sell games also next to DVD's and such) and all of them made up the best-sellers list to advertise for new games.

It's not unlikely that happened there as well.

PHEW thanks for that, I really don't want this game to do well I hate the fact that some game companies feel that they can push out unfinished copies of tat and expect people to buy them.

Yeh us brits really are clueless.

It doesnt help either when douches like GAME and BLOCKBUSTER advertise this game to its own merits, complimenting it with tags such as "The next generation of war-gaming" or in blockbusters case constantly advertising it on TV in their stores.

But I do tend to interfere when I see confused gamers picking off copies from the shelves, im sure people wouldnt mind the advice.

Someone needs to stand next to the copies and when a person reaches to buy one you just smack there hand and point to Gears of War or Rainbow Six Vegas

Becareful though, make sure you do it quietly and with subtlety. A GAME retailer in Manchester threatened to ban me from their shop just because I saved some poor soul's £40. Those bastards will really so anything to sell crap like that.

I remember when that 50 cent game did so well despite being complete garbage. I dont EVER buy games off the shelf that I dont already know a great deal about. not even word of mouth. I have friends that buy games like that and always end up with terrible games like pimp my ride and crouching tiger hidden dragon

Dunno why you look in Woolies and HMV, those are the two worst places to go for games next to Dixons. HMV near me sells Prey for £29.99 on SPECIAL OFFER.

Agreed. Gaming would be a much better place if everyone would do a little research before purchasing a game. That way crappy games wouldnt sell nearly as well and they would have to amp up the quality of their products to compete.

I've been playing vids long enough to smell a crappy game even before it's release date. Only on rare occasions am I proven wrong.
