Its such a pain, my parents won't let me get it just because it is M. They were going to let me get it because they said that it looked ok, but they thought it was T and now they wont let me get it. I have a friend that I could borrow it from... should i just do that?

The TC obviously can't just go and buy it, if his parents have to buy it for him.

Anyway, almat, try showing your folks some videos of Halo 3 on YouTube, it's almost cartoonish violence, barely any blood at all.

But Halo: Reach would probably be out of the question for now, they went for a more gritty tone, to try and make you fear The Covenant, or something, not sure how well that turned out though.

I've got a brilliant idea. Spend several years growing old enough to legally buy it then buy it yourself... Sorry dude but the age ratings are there for a reason and games like this arent deemed suitable for someone under the age limit. Be grateful that your parents actually care enough about your well being enough to monitor and control what youre exposed to because a lot of parents dont bother. Besides we already have enough annoying, loud mouthed and stressy kids on the matchmaking of halo...most of us dont really want anymore thanks

I really don't understand why Reach was rated M instead of T anyways. There's no swearing, no sex, and no gore (sure, there's some blood but no dismemberment or anything like that). The only thing that I can think of is that the ESRB took the online voice-chat into account, because they know that every other person with a mic swears and shouts racial slurs constantly.

I'll second that. Just wait and keep playing whatever good T rated games are out right now, it will fly by. Ok, I lied, I hated having to wait, but at least my parents cared enough to make me, and it looks like your's do to. You may hate it now, but it's for the best.

the esrb rarely take online mic chat into account because its impossible to predict. And your statement annoys me greatly because as usual you are concentrating on the blood and "maturity" (if thats how you want to put it) of the language. The ratings board also take into account the games general tone and story material. One of the reasons halo reach is rated M is because its a dark toned game about warfare which revolves around mass GENOCIDE of an entire species. The genocide storyline is a pretty strong part of the reason

Obviously, the kid can't purchase the game because he/she's a minor..... hence, his/her parents are needed for the purchase.

TC, if you really want the game you should buy it online.

Lets give the kid a break you guys. I agree, when I have kids I won't let them play violent games, but I also don't believe that violent games lead to behavior like so many politicians and parents do. Besides, there are plenty of adults who do stupid things, yet nobody attributes it to video games.

Do whatever. Neither are highly objectionable games.

Borrow it is probably your best bet.

BTW how old are you? That might contribute also.

If you live under your parent's roof and they say no rated M games, then that is just the way it is. Sure, you can try to get around it by borrowing from a friend or buying online, but you do this at the risk of getting caught, and that isn't exactly the way to gain the trust from your parents you are wanting.

Convince them your mature enough to handle the violence by presenting persoanl proof (like good grades or the lack of a police record).

It's kind of pretentious how some of the people in this topic hate the idea of a minor playing video games due to their general annoyances they have with younger players. Honestly, I'm pretty young too, but I respect everyone online, and half the time, I'm the one being disrespected.

Short anecdote for you: I was playing Black Ops last week, and expressed my like for someone's emblem, and he went on to call me a homosexual. I guess I'm the immature one though

One of my professor's rationalized letting his son play Halo by saying, "he's mostly killing aliens, not humans." Not sure if that will work on your parents...

Buy it off of Craigslist, no ID necessary. Happy to contribute to your delinquency.
