Keep the console and its power brick in well vented areas and don't use your console for extended periods of time. Also, if you have a large enough hard drive, I'd suggest installing the games you play the most onto it, as that can preserve the condition of your console's drive as well as the console itself (will use less heat as a result).atm0073
In other words, don't play all day. But that doesn't always work really cause the 360 hardware just sucks. If you buy your 360 from best buy, you can get an in-store warranty for it. If it breaks you can just take it t the store and they'll give you a brand-new one right there and then. It's pretty cool.

Not true. My second lived 360 lasted from mid October 2006 to mid October 2008.Well, you can install the games to your hard drive so the disc doesn't spin, and I'm pretty sure you can buy a fan to put on it.MINE LASTED 1 YEAR, ON THE 25TH OF DECEMBER.

Not true. My second lived 360 lasted from mid October 2006 to mid October 2008.December 07-08, and still fine..never had any problems. I don't play it 24/7 either, so I think I'm good for awhile.[QUOTE="mikekolesar1"]Well, you can install the games to your hard drive so the disc doesn't spin, and I'm pretty sure you can buy a fan to put on it. I heard this makes it worst....MINE LASTED 1 YEAR, ON THE 25TH OF DECEMBER.

No matter what people tell you, you can't really prevent the Red Ring of Death, some people I know personally have done all their power to prevent it and it still happens, but I will say if you keep your console well dusted and ventilated and that should reduce your chances of getting one, but like I said sometimes it happens anyways, and with that you still have a 3 year warrenty to use if it does.
Another thing is never, ever, ever buy one of those fans, those make it alot worst, I wouldn't worry about Red Ringing though because no matter how well you take care of it you may actually make the matter worst, so like I said before Dust it, and keep it well ventilated and your chances of it happening should be reduced, but if it does happend you still have that 3 year warrenty for 3 rings, and still 11 month for any other probs since you got it last month.
