I know they added some vehicles but they also took out some vehicles. They did not add the pelican which is an important vehicle, even through it does not realy fight. They could of added it and used it to drop trops off any where it flys. Also the mongoose was taken out, i know the mongoose was a terriable vehicle in halo 3 but that does not mean it should be taken out. It could of been used as a cheeper warthog. EmperorZeruelthe game takes place before halo 1 so mayabe some vehicles were not created yet, plus it would be a bit boring if they had everything the same from the other halos.

They could have had a pelican that is like a gunship.Un4givingAsault
The hornet is the human gunship. And before you say you want a big gun ship, I think it would be better to have several small gunships, over having one big gunship. For example, I'd much rather have a squad of warthogs over having an elephant.

EmperorZeruelfirst of all you say they should have used the pelicans to just "drop troops off anywhere it flies". this is very much in the demo and is a power you can purchase by pressing up on the D-pad. you also said you wanted a mongoose? really?? given the weakness displayed by the warthog i dont see the mongoose having the slightest power on the battlefield or as a scout for that matter.

In an RTS, every civilization has to be balanced out.
I agree. I didn't really except every vehicle and weapon from the shooters and associated fiction to be in Halo Wars.
i under stand but the mongoose wont make muck of a difference for the unsc and the covernet also have some thing like the pelican which i for got whats its caledI know they added some vehicles but they also took out some vehicles. The Pelican is in Halo Wars. It has missles as weapons, so yes it does fight, play the first level of Halo 3 and you will see a Pelican using missles.Don't start a thread if you don't know what your talking about. The mongoose would have been pointless considering it has no armament. Mongoose as a transport is also stupid because it can only carry 2 troops at a time. So really it was a good chose to not put the mongoose in.
BALANCE! It's the foundation of a well put together RTS. These guys made Age of Empires, they know what they're doing... buttface1So that means Halo Wars will have terrible, terrible Ally AI? I love Age of Empires, but the Ally AI made me want to strangle the game because anyone who builds like they do should just be slaughtered mercilessly. If this game comes to the PC it will be a insta-buy for me, but Console RTS just don't run with me too well (unless it is Starcraft 64).

vashkey
Actually it existed even before Combat Evolved in the time line.
I'd hope so. The Mongoose is an ATV. Seeing as we have ATVs now, it's a pretty safe bet that some form of the Mongoose existed in the UNSC's inventory prior to 2552.
The Mongoose would barely be used because it's not that great. Would you really waste a point on that useless vehicle? I doubt it would have that much health and barely any weaponry. The only time that would even seem decent is if you could put a spartan on the back.
craigalan23
I could see it as an upgrade for Marine squads. When you move them, they move on Mongooses, way faster. Then they dismount and shoot/fight normally. (Note: I'm not saying this is a good idea; it's just a way you could work in the Mongoose.)

No i'm not confused, if you watch any of the Halo Wars gameplay videos you will see Pelicans fighting (with missles) then FLYING away to pick up troops. You think i'm confusing Pelicans with Wolverines But i'm not. Once again you can see a Pelican take down 2 Phantoms (WITH MISSLES) in the first level of Halo 3, when you are near the dam, Pelican comes, MISSLES go boom, Phantoms die.

Well they probably aren't including some vehicles because, they did not work well with they mechanics of the game. That or those vehicles were not created during the time period the Halo Wars were taking place.
there are so many wechiles in Halo Lore with different variations.
Pelican have been knwon to carry missiles and machine guns.
warthogs come inn som nay varietes, rifle, gauess, warthog transport and now grenadier.
and there weher covenantn and Brute transports form halo 2 and halo 3. remember the 4 seater covenant transport , but was replaced by the brute equivalent in Halo 3?
there also variantes of the wraith in halo 3 with tthe anit air wraiths.
here is s a question for the halo lore fans.
why did they replace the first flying transport troop hrom halo with the Phantom in halo 2 and 3?
I do notice they drop of troops faster, but I found it aeasier picking of enemys coming from under the vehicle.

FOR THE LAST TIME. If you play the first level of Halo 3, Seirra 117, near the end when you are rescuing Sergent Johnson, and escaping a Pelican will come to your rescue. If you watch this Pelican as it comes in it will take out the two Phantoms that are hovering over you WITH MISSLES. It will then proceed to pick you up and transport you to safety, if you watch the cut scene afterward they will call it a Pelican drop ship. So yes PELICANS DO HAVE WEAPONS AND DO FIGHT IN HALO WARS. If you have ever played the campaign of Halo 3 you would know this.Atomic_BaconIts halo wars not halo 3...those "pelicans" in Halo Wars are called Vultures...if you look carefully they are THE SAME...just a different name

So if you're saying AI is a foundation of RTS and Halo Wars will fail if it doesn't have strong AI, then you're pretty much saying some of the fathers of RTS (Starcraft, Warcraft, AoE, C&C, etc) all fail as well... because those games are none the less dated and have terrible AI. But guess what? Each of those games were very nicely balanced so you rarely heard anyone complaining about it. They were beautiful, addictive, and a blast to play.
But! Ai can be a foundation to RTS's like DoW and CoH where, where you place your units on certain terrain effects the outcome of a battle. :)
Honestly I wouldn't nick-pick at this game, unless you're one of those elitist gamers who has a hate for Halo for some odd reason it's most likely going to appeal to every single one of us. And I gotta add, the mongoose would be a totally ineffective vehicle for this in my opinion, you'll probably prefer using your resources for infanty.
