I know they added some vehicles but they also took out some vehicles. They did not add the pelican which is an important vehicle, even through it does not realy fight. They could of added it and used it to drop trops off any where it flys. Also the mongoose was taken out, i know the mongoose was a terriable vehicle in halo 3 but that does not mean it should be taken out. It could of been used as a cheeper warthog.

the game takes place before halo 1 so mayabe some vehicles were not created yet, plus it would be a bit boring if they had everything the same from the other halos.

Actually the pelican is in halo wars. It's sole use is say your base is on one side of a map and your army is fighting all the way over on the other side, you can call on a pelican to pick troops up from your base and drop them off in the middle of the fight. I've used it for moving spartans and marines that aren't upgraded to ODST's(because they can be droped right into the middle of a fight) and it may be possible to move warhogs, scorpions, cobras, or wolverines. And yeah, they took out the mongoose and some other vehicles, but they did add new vehicles.

I'm guessing you played the demo huh? The demo only has Captain Cutter and The Prophet of Regret. Only two of the six leaders of which you get to play as. For example There is a Brute Chieftain Leader to play as where you can command brute choppers and the like. Then there's the Arbiter too so you get the idea.
Three Covey leaders and Three UNSC leaders. So there MANY units we don't know about yet. So lets play some FEAR 2 and the wait will be over before ya no'z!:D

And the mongoose was not a terrible veichle, it was very useful in escaping eneimes, esp ones in other veichles chasing you.

The hornet is the human gunship. And before you say you want a big gun ship, I think it would be better to have several small gunships, over having one big gunship. For example, I'd much rather have a squad of warthogs over having an elephant.

There's an aircraft called a Vulture in halo wars, and it kinda works like a Hornet/Pelican combined, although it still can't transport troops.

first of all you say they should have used the pelicans to just "drop troops off anywhere it flies". this is very much in the demo and is a power you can purchase by pressing up on the D-pad. you also said you wanted a mongoose? really?? given the weakness displayed by the warthog i dont see the mongoose having the slightest power on the battlefield or as a scout for that matter.

I agree. I didn't really except every vehicle and weapon from the shooters and associated fiction to be in Halo Wars.

LOL. The Pelican is in Halo Wars. It has missles as weapons, so yes it does fight, play the first level of Halo 3 and you will see a Pelican using missles.Don't start a thread if you don't know what your talking about. The mongoose would have been pointless considering it has no armament. Mongoose as a transport is also stupid because it can only carry 2 troops at a time. So really it was a good chose to not put the mongoose in.

So that means Halo Wars will have terrible, terrible Ally AI? I love Age of Empires, but the Ally AI made me want to strangle the game because anyone who builds like they do should just be slaughtered mercilessly. If this game comes to the PC it will be a insta-buy for me, but Console RTS just don't run with me too well (unless it is Starcraft 64).

The Pelican is in the game as a leader power. It was in the demo. The only major vehicle i know of thats missing in the game is the Mongoose... and come on, who honestly cares that it's gone? Besides it's got loads of other new awsome vehicles.

I'd hope so. The Mongoose is an ATV. Seeing as we have ATVs now, it's a pretty safe bet that some form of the Mongoose existed in the UNSC's inventory prior to 2552.

Pelicans are in the game, just not as a unit you can control. And the mongoose sucks, what kind of respectable army would have their soldiers riding around in those death traps? The only reason they exist at all is because they are only good for MP capture the flag. I'd glady trade in the mongoose for one of the the new units like the cyclops mech.

The Mongoose would barely be used because it's not that great. Would you really waste a point on that useless vehicle? I doubt it would have that much health and barely any weaponry. The only time that would even seem decent is if you could put a spartan on the back.

I could see it as an upgrade for Marine squads. When you move them, they move on Mongooses, way faster. Then they dismount and shoot/fight normally. (Note: I'm not saying this is a good idea; it's just a way you could work in the Mongoose.)

Yes it is used for transportation, but it DOES have armament, and it DOES fight. No i'm not confused, if you watch any of the Halo Wars gameplay videos you will see Pelicans fighting (with missles) then FLYING away to pick up troops. You think i'm confusing Pelicans with Wolverines But i'm not. Once again you can see a Pelican take down 2 Phantoms (WITH MISSLES) in the first level of Halo 3, when you are near the dam, Pelican comes, MISSLES go boom, Phantoms die.

Well they probably aren't including some vehicles because, they did not work well with they mechanics of the game. That or those vehicles were not created during the time period the Halo Wars were taking place.

there are so many wechiles in Halo Lore with different variations.

Pelican have been knwon to carry missiles and machine guns.

warthogs come inn som nay varietes, rifle, gauess, warthog transport and now grenadier.

and there weher covenantn and Brute transports form halo 2 and halo 3. remember the 4 seater covenant transport , but was replaced by the brute equivalent in Halo 3?

there also variantes of the wraith in halo 3 with tthe anit air wraiths.

here is s a question for the halo lore fans.

why did they replace the first flying transport troop hrom halo with the Phantom in halo 2 and 3?

I do notice they drop of troops faster, but I found it aeasier picking of enemys coming from under the vehicle.

FOR THE LAST TIME. If you play the first level of Halo 3, Seirra 117, near the end when you are rescuing Sergent Johnson, and escaping a Pelican will come to your rescue. If you watch this Pelican as it comes in it will take out the two Phantoms that are hovering over you WITH MISSLES. It will then proceed to pick you up and transport you to safety, if you watch the cut scene afterward they will call it a Pelican drop ship. So yes PELICANS DO HAVE WEAPONS AND DO FIGHT IN HALO WARS. If you have ever played the campaign of Halo 3 you would know this.

^^Yup, The game has both Vultures and Pelicans. Vultures are like flying tanks and the pelicans are just used as a quick transpo option in the same section as the Mac strikes. But they are almost identical.

Yes halo 3 has pelican's that shoot missiles.

No the pelican's in halo wars do not shoot missiles. They are for transport only.

And yes there are other air ships in halo wars that look like pelican's that do shoot missiles. They are called vulture's.

While Pelicans can be fitted with weapons, they certainly weren't intended for combat. Their called dropships for a reason.

The Y shaped Covenant transports were considered outdated for the most part. And were generally used for less combat extensive missions. Such as transporting scientists and non comabtants. The reason that you see them so much in Halo:CE is because the "Truth and Reconciliation" the Covenant ship stationd on Halo. Was a research vessel that was there to study the relics, and thus had less effective military forces * a smaller garrison of soldiers/ vehicles* than a standard warship.

the mongoose could come in handy it could be slightly faster and cheeper ten the warthog, you you make one you start off with one with just a soliger with an assault rifle on the back and can up grade it to a rocket launcher. . they could be used to spy and torush your enemy

[QUOTE="buttface1"]BALANCE! It's the foundation of a well put together RTS. These guys made Age of Empires, they know what they're doing... Agent_Kaliaver

So if you're saying AI is a foundation of RTS and Halo Wars will fail if it doesn't have strong AI, then you're pretty much saying some of the fathers of RTS (Starcraft, Warcraft, AoE, C&C, etc) all fail as well... because those games are none the less dated and have terrible AI. But guess what? Each of those games were very nicely balanced so you rarely heard anyone complaining about it. They were beautiful, addictive, and a blast to play.

But! Ai can be a foundation to RTS's like DoW and CoH where, where you place your units on certain terrain effects the outcome of a battle. :)

Honestly I wouldn't nick-pick at this game, unless you're one of those elitist gamers who has a hate for Halo for some odd reason it's most likely going to appeal to every single one of us. And I gotta add, the mongoose would be a totally ineffective vehicle for this in my opinion, you'll probably prefer using your resources for infanty.

First of all the Pelican is in Halo Wars. Secondly, the mongoose would have been just aweful and pointless.
