How disgraceful is this ....

with GTA 4 only 5 days well 4 and a bit days away people with modded consoles today are sat at home enjoying the game and us truthful and honest gamers who buy the games to support the console and company, have to wait these extra few days. My mate has a modded console and he got gta 4 today pirated for 2.50 and until the actual game comes out i now have to avoid him who i see nearly everyday just so he doesnt ruin the game for me.

so what do you other gamers think of modders/ piraters who receive games early just because their to cheap ass to buy the game at full price?

I agree that it is unfair. But that's just reality. Life isn't fair. These guys break the rules(or law) for the advantages that come with it. Even though they're taking a huge risk of being caught or breaking their xbox.

I'm not willing to take such a risk. But I'm not angry that other people are doing it. Even if it is unfair that I have to wait and they don't. If they're willing to risk their consoles, warranty, and gamertag, then that's their choice.

I think it's a little funny, they'd rather face the ban stick than wait?

Pirating is a bit of a disgrace...I pay for games/music to support the artists/developers that I love. If you're stealing all of your content, you aren't supporting them, or the gaming industry. So thanks a lot.

Yeah I posted a topic about this - tell your buddy to watch out if you do end up talking to him. MS is tracking early players and trying to determine which ones just got it early and which ones are playing pirated versions on modded consoles (which your buddy is) - it's official that they are tracking these people and deciding what action to take against them.

meh...i used to get upset with pirating but i've given up...i dont do it but have accepted that others do.

I'm not sure but I think that Microsoft watches for these things, so they will probably be banned from Xbox Live for a very long time. So while they do get to play it now we only have to wait a few more days and not have to worry about getting busted.

Pirating software has been around for as long as PC's have been in consumers' hands. I remember when I was a kid watching the ridiculous video 'Don't Copy That Floppy" (if you haven't seen it, look it up HERE - Good stuff) and thinking "What harm can it really do?"

Now that I'm grown and know better, it does give me pause from time to time. It IS a problem, but one that will never go away. It's really just up to each individual to do the right thing.

Personally, I'd rather wait for the games/software to be released before risking being caught. I've got a family, and we can afford to wait for release. We can't afford litigation for greed.

In this day an age where money and video games go hand in hand it sucks that developers dont get support sometimes, If i busted my ass making a game for some odd years i would hate for it to get leaked and blah blah blah.

Yes, of course I know that stealing is wrong. But pirating entertainment is not something that really upsets me whenever see or hear about someone doing it. The people making this material will have very good lives regardless of pirates.

Stealing from the rich is an act that's morally wrong but I can't feel much sympathy when there are more unfortunate people out there getting screwed over.

MS doesn't "brick" your console, they ban your XBL account, also people are unplugging the eternet cables and playing GTAIV offline, until the game is released on the 29th, which i'm sure my game store will somehow "nevered recieved shipment, come back tomorrow" like my Halo 3 hahaha

I don't think that there's enought pirating right now to cause companies to go bankrupt. But it probably will get to that point in the future. That's when I think we'll see more strict laws and regulations when it comes to downloading stuff.

i was considering modding my xbox cos i never have enough money for games but i dont think i will.. i have already pre-ordered GTA and i admit that the people playing early are honestly jus *****!!!

Well life isn't fair, it's a fact. But it's really not that bad. Is it going to kill you to wait a few more days? And if they are using a modded console then they can't play online.capthavic
