I play on a 19" LCD and it is wonderful...No black bars for mekc9292
A lot of games only have 16:9 widescreen, so regardless of whether you have a 19" ws (16:10) or fs (4:3) you will have black bars due to the aspect ratio.

Then your monitor is stretching the image (a lot do). The 360 doesn't output your true 22" res, so there's either black bars or a stretch done by your monitor.
It depends on your monitor resolution. The 360 does not support 16:10 aspect ratio, which is what widescreen computer monitors are. So you'll always have small black bars. I have a 22" ws that is 1680x1050, and that specific resolution isn't available from the 360 so the image is not as good as it could be. Still not bad though, but anything not native on an LCD tends to look a little blurry. Sorry no pics, I did see a thread somewhere with pics of the 360 dashboard on a bunch of the dell monitors, but that was a long time ago. DarthMegalon
Thats mine configuration too but I am now getting 24" ultra high end quality monitor with full HD (1080p).

That will be pretty darn sweet, I was thinking of getting a 24" BenQ that supports 1080p (I think most 24" monitors have too many pixels for "true" 1080p, since they're at 1920 x 1200). I just recently got a 32" 720p tv though, so I'm less inclined to play on my monitor.

Not true, I play on a 20" NEC Multisync 20WMGX2, 16:10. 1680x1020, and there are no black bars, you just set the resolution in the dashboard to what looks best on the monitor. Unless you've playing on a monitor, you wouldnt see the resolution settings. IMO the 360 looks great over the VGA cables, my launch 360 died and a got a new hdmi one for my tv, I use the refurb on my monitor for co-op, or when i feel like having the tv on something when I play. It's fantastic.
they probabaly are better they have more pixels (useful for pc) and have good response rates, usually brightness and contrast ratio
its better to have a smaller screen also because the pixels are tightly packed compared to a 32' meaning pixels are smaller and you get basically what looks like a higher res picture
i have a 19' , 5ms, 1000:1, 1440 x 900 goodmans monitor and its great, its quality over size really
people spend to much money boasting about how they have a bigger screen, why do people have obbsessions with large screens go for quality !
I have been using my old 15" monitor for a while now. The picture is pretty good when compared to a standard telly. I was actually think the HDTV must make images almost three dimensional with the quality produced by an old monitor. It is a good cheap alternative if you are looking to sharpen up your 360 picture without having to fork out for a HDTV.
I believe there may be some thing to do with the games with respect to the issue of letterbox picture (two black bands). The thing is that I have four games that react differnently when connected to the monitor. Smackdown vs Raw 2007 and Saint Row suffer from the letter boxing while FIFA 08 and Madden 08 are fine. I assumed that any wide-screen monitor would solve this problem. There are also the wide-screen resolution setting on the 360 dash that could help fix the problem when using a wide-screen.
