I have fans around mine and it seems to help quite a bit.

Keep it in a well ventilated area and moderate your gameplay.

flat table, not crowded by other items around it. don't put in an entertainment center where airflow will be restricted. i can usually play mine for about 3-4 hours at a time without it freezing or overheating.

yeah play for about that same amount of time and it is sort of crowed i guess, its surronded by a ps2 a wii a dvd player and a battery pack charger... but none of them are in contact with the 360 and i think my space has good open airflow cause its not in a tight space or enclosed

  1. Plug it in
  2. Wrap in plastic
  3. Drop in bucket of water while still holding
  4. If you survive....play

OR THE SMART THING TO DO

Keep it in very very well ventilated area. Try to keep the area clean as possible since I assume that might help a little.

I just have a huge fan blowing air on it - The 360 will probably collect way more dust than it should but who cares about that. Ohhh I'm gonna abuse it with Mass Effect, friggin 12 hours straight for weeks!
