How do I know if my xbox 360 is new or refurbished?

I bought my xbox from futureshop who is renowned for selling refurbished items to people without them knowing it. Id like to know how I can tell the difference between a new xbox 360 and a refurbished one. Is there a seal to look for on the box before opening it?

I am asking this because when I started to play halo 3 it already had a persons name there "bill" and unless this is normal, then I have a feeling it is refurbished. Thanks!

A new 360 doesn't have any profiles on it.

I know I received a refurbished after sending mine in for repair. As of July or August of 07, 360s were supposed to have a HDMI port on them. When I got 360 back from repair center, had a serial number tag that was a bit crooked, and had a manufacture date of October 07. No HDMI port. Different serial number as well, by the way...

futureshop does sell open box stuff. but they have to say it on the outside of it, and they mark down the price. It sounds like you bought a 360 that was owned briefly, than returned to the store by "Bill".

Best to return the system, don't let them get away with sneaky crap like that.
