How do i register the free xbox live gold membership for 1 month ?????

Hi i have recently purchased a xbox 360 pro console(60gb) with 4 games and the controller with headset for 399 dollars and have gotten1340 gamerscore in 6 days.

After successfully avoiding the red ring of death and somehow managing to connect 5 metres worth of internet cables to reach the port i am now searching the internet on how to register my free one month membership.

After i have connect my internet cable to the port and getting on xbox live i had to update my dashboard to that new one. That new experience thing. Now i i guess many people have asked this before but how the !@#^&*!#%^&!%&!)#%*&$(^%_!*&^$)#&^!%)#%&^_!#%^*!#%)^#!%_!&@^$_#% do i register my 1 month free membership?

I do not plan of downgrading my system with the Infectus downgrader thingy because i heard that you can get free membership with the old system but would have to make a new account everymonth to keep the free membership at the cost of your gamerpoints. U am scared i can't connect to live if i tried this. If anyone has a solution or any possible LEGAL way to downgrade my system without having to update it again to so i can get the gold membership please tell me.

I got a plastic card back with my 360 after it returned from its repair trip to texas. Its a free gold membership for 1 or 3 months, cant remember which. Anywho, do they have like an expiration date? Because its been sitting on my dresser. I can't really use it because I don't have the right type of internet. Supposedly the cable company will be putting cable internet on my road some time next year. Will that free trial card still be good? And what is the new "dash board" like? Is it any better than the old one? (i have the old one).
