My friend recently quit xbox 360, as it was sucking his life. I pounced on the oppurtinity, and bought it from him. The whole sha-bang. Xbox 360 console, 4 controllers, 120gb HDD, games, and xbox live account. It's that last one that's the problem. You see, today I went on halo live, to a rude shock. My friend was really good at Halo 3. I don't yet know what the numbers mean, but he was/I'm stuck with a level 43 and I think Colonel Rank 2. (not sure on that last one). I played a few games, and just got hammered. I suck bad enough as it is. I'm struggling through campaign on normal. These guys online are way out of my league. So my question is, how can I start facing people my level? When I talked to my friend about this, he mentioned something about deleveling/deranking. I don't know what that means/how to do it.... Can anybody help me out. Please don't flame. I'm not some **** who wants to go pwn some noobies. I just want to face people who suck as much as I do.
the more you suck while playing, the lower the number gets, so just keep sucking at ranked games, and you will eventually play with your level of skill.
Making a new account sounds expensive. I'll go with the "just keeping sucking" option. How many hours of humiliation will it take?jobobalo
it will take quite a bit of losing to derank that much your friend was good as 42 is pretty high with 50 being the level max and most average players being in the high 20s to mid 30s.
I know this might not what you want to hear but i say stick at it. Sure you are going to get an ass kicking for a long time however (in theory) playing against or with you, your game will slowly improve.
Just get a new account. You're going to have to renew your friend's account anyways, so you might as well start paying for your own unique account right now before you spend any money keeping your friend's account.
Play unranked matches. The best option would be to make a new account because deranking can get you banned and it is a very long process. Playing with the high ranks will do nothing but piss off your teammates and it won't even be fun for you.

That doesn't work... your "highest" rank doesn't go down, unless they changed it.
Or just play it and suck. I mean it's not a huge deal and like someone else said, you'll eventually get better and have an idea of what's going on. If anyone ridicules you for it, tell them it's a game and to get over themselves. I wouldn't get a whole new account if you have one with a year left on it, there's just no sense to that
