The final round against Seth is crazy. He goes mental and I have tried super combos, ultras, and focus attacks but he just keeps unleashing a barrage of attacks and throws. I have put the difficulty setting on easy and I still cant beat him. What advice can you give me ??

You don't beath Seth... Just set there and watch your character's butt getting kicked.

What worked for me was that I don't attack him, I just set and the other side and wait for him to sonic boom, then just and give him a couple of HKs then run away to other side of the screen. Once I get cornered, I just over him to the other side. I don't even bother doing Ultras with him, he blocks them all somehow.

Capcom has ruined the Arcade mode by having an ultra difficult last boss fight who is crazy hard even on the easy difficulty. I will try to stay away from him and just do fireballs until I get a super charge and do that super move.

Yea. I don't get why they made it that difficult. Took me about 8 tries to finish him with Chun-li. They say that if you unpatch your SF 4 it will become much easier. Never tried it, but it seems like the patch makes Seth throw you more frequently.

Have done him with Ryu, M Bison and Chun Li over the course of 5 hours or so.

Ryu was fairly easy, I just full out attacked him from the start with dragon punches, fireballs, super fireballs etc... basically constantly doing quarter rotations with triple punch and cornering him. Obviously most of the time he does you with something but this tactic paid off in about 5 goes.

M Bison was a bit harder, as he hasn't got a great sweep I went with the flying Medium Kick (whilst charging back), couple of light kicks then unleash his kick special move (don't remember the name). This takes off quite a bit of energy so a few iterations of this and he's getting low on energy. Took me about 20 goes.

As for Chunners, the only tactic that worked was resolutely block everything, then when he goes for a dragon punch or something (not the yoga arm as he ends up too far away) hit him with the HK sweep. Don't get tempted to use ANY OTHER MOVE. He will do you! If he does the blatant cheating teleport to right next to you then don't get tempted to try and block the throw - if he throws you then obviously you're dead, but if he doesn't you have a chance. Just be really patient, and keep trying. Probably took me 50 odd goes to pull it off - in the end it was a time victory - the sweetest kind ;-) Oh, and start with a jump in with medium kick to medium low kick, then block and then go for the HK sweep. Again, if this fails, you're as good as dead but this works about 60% of the time. If only they'd built in a rematch option without going back to the character selection screen!! how many times have i heard some rubbish about an Axiom or something...

Weird that Chunners is so hard to beat him with actually, haven't played any two player yet (the weekend is dedicated to that though) - but I reckon she'll be one of the best characters for that. Although in a quick dabble with the online match ups Ken seems to be pwning all challengers

Had a few goes with Abel, didn't succeed but don't think it should take too long as at least Abel dishes out some decent damage with his standard moves, and doesn't take TOO much damage.

As for Sakura, I'd love to know if anyone's done this. She's so rubbish! like Ryu but with all the specials a bit more rubbish.

What's up with gamers avoiding challenges? 8 tries are too much for you? It's the freaking last boss. He's supposed to be hard. That's why you get a warm feeling inside when you finally beat him. Most games are far to easy nowadays.

challenges are all well and good, but it would have been better if they'd graduated the difficulty a bit through the rounds - the reality is that you beat everyone else first go, then spend 90% of your time on that cheating banker. And it would be fine if you could defeat him through skillful use of combos and specials, but with most characters you have to try and exploit a flaw in AI and keep repeating it till you win.

Anyway this has to be a mistake, predict a patch will come out very soon making him easier. I don't see how he could be any better on 'hardest' than he is on 'easiest'

Generally though I'm starting to love the game - favourite street fighter so far (controversially) is EX3, I thought that series really brought tactics to the forefront by slowing down the game a bit and giving you more space to move about in. I miss Garuda... :(

He's not difficult on anything less than medium. You guys just need to warm back up to the Street Fighter system.

I think this is standard procedure in most fighting games. I certainly remember having BIG problems with Bison when I first played SF2 (a long time ago). Just play online or with your mates until you get a better understanding of the game and im sure you will be able to put Seth down no problem as you improve. The game has only been out a day or two at this stage, I would probably be more annoyed if I was able to breeze through it already.

Deep down I cried for a few hours.

It got to the point kept trying on medium (failed), very easy (failed) and sadly had to beat him on easiest (to unlock characters)

Definitely not. I suppose you've never actually played a difficult fighting game before. Go try UMK3 on the XBLA, and then come here and whine how "difficult" Seth is.

Well if you are just trying to unlock characters there are 2 difficulties that are under easy...easier and easiest. Seth is a joke on the easiest difficulty...all you have to do is the old noob combo...jump heavy kick....crouch heavy kick...unlock all of the chars real quick that way.

I beat the game on Hardest and he isn't difficult. I found him more difficult on medium than Hardest. Its just about timing. Life is all about timing. I hope I just blew your mind.

I beat him on hardest and it's funny I felt at times he is just as insane on all difficulty settings. For a real challenge, Seth delivers. I remember quite a few matches where he would just grab me and do his teleporting piledriver one after another and another until I had nothing....he's a beast. If you want better chances at beating him change the difficulty and the rounds to one only. Stay away from him and wait for him to let down his guard after the double arm stretch, a sonic boom or where he turns black and tries to draw you to him. When he does these jump at him with a kick and follow up with a combo then jump away and try again. If you knock him down try a well timed focus attack starting right when he falls then over and over.

If your going 2 rounds with him on med, on the first round keep blocking his annoying lower stretch punch thing and inbetween this attack jump at him and use heavy kick then jump back and block all moves untill he goes back to the lower punch then repete. For the second round... well jump over his sonic booms as they chip your health duing block and when he is open for attack spam HP and HK and just block anything else... this worked for me using M.Bison... after about 1 1/2 or figuring out how to beat hum >.

I literally spent an hour fighting him with Ryu and eventually got lucky and threw him until he died.
On medium I managed to beat him my first try with Zangief. So my advice is to get good with Zangief.

i down right outsmarted tha mf after about 30 times losing lol (on hard playing as gouken) i eventually started to see his entire pattern. it seems as if he adjust to your playin style in the 2nd round. anywho, block the stretch arm attack and when u get far enuff he will start to throw sonic boomz. this leaves u with 2 options. u can either block them unitl u get close unuff to jump over tha boom and land a kick and maybe 2 of ur quikest atacks on him or keep spamming fire ballz bak until he jumpz off tha wall at u and u can jab with light punch ( or if u have a character that kicks high that may work 2)really quik b4 he lands and that should catch him. if he does knock u dwn pray he doesnt teleport and grab u. mash tha sht out of tha jab button b4 u even get off tha ground and this should get cheap hits on him when u get up and prevent him from hittin u as soon as u get up. alwayz b prepared to block (diaganol back down) when he does tha vacuum move and w8 until its over and get away from him as soon as possible. this is the way i beat him. yea itz xtremely cheap and call me a turtle if u want but seth cant b fought like other characters hez juz 2 gud and hiz movez are juz plain BS cheats. ur best time 2 try and fit n an attack is after u jump ovr tha sonic boom. DONT try 2 jump ovr him. and dont try to uppercut counter when u get off tha ground.when u find an opening remember it and xploit it.

it took me 5 retries with ken, it wasnt hard but though frutrating because the first 4 fights on every round 2nd or 3rd rounds, i could only deal 20-30% damage. then i realised what i was doing wrong, i was focusing to much on offense and trying to deal damage on him when im forgetting about defense. so i changed my tactics abit and played defensively countering/blocking his attacks. i beat him almost perfect on first and second round, medium difficulty

go play King of Fighters 2001 and fight Igniz, then come talk to me about hard fighting game bosses... Seth is tough, but I've faced much harder fighting bosses... use your focus/ex attacks and use the specials... best way to beat him on anything above Medium/Hard is to set the game to 1 round, that way you just have to beat him once.

this is what you do (take my advise, cuz im a living legend in SF) just jump in with HK then crouch HK for the sweep, then quickly hold and charge your focus attack so by the time he gets up its fully charged and unblockable then hit him with that then he's going to be "focused stunned", so thats wen you do your super on him (or whatevet you want) note: but its better if you let him come to you then sweep kick him cuz if you jump in he'll just do that freakin 8 hit uppercut that takes a chunk of your life guage *60% of the time, it works everytime*

Yea he does go pretty sick sometimes when he starts warping everywhere. Playing through all of the characters I actually found it easier beating him with Blanka but that was just using some timed attacks with a couple of EX moves.

I kill him with a lucky shot in the final round. I was playing as blanka for the first time on medium settings, i have no knowledge in how to using blanka though i know he has a defesive/counter style so i went along with it. In the final round i had 5% health left, and seth had 50%, i went for my ultra combo and i was like uh oh Sh*t! but lucky seth did a sonic boom which was easily dodged and landed my ultra combo on him and won. one of the greatest moments ive had on Street fightrt IV. Playing offensive again seth makes it harder to defeat him, so play defensive as much as you can and counter his moves.

Compared to Gill of SF3, Seth is still actually beatable. At least Seth doesn't have a "oh, you got me to 1%? I INSTAHEAL" super move to make all your work mean nothing.

He is an offense-heavy character that relies alot on zoning to beat you at a distance. So you'll see that he spams the sonic booms and his low HP. Just find a way to get in close. His defense is actually pretty terrible.

Yes, I agree he is supposed to be a BOSS and is SUPPOSED to be hard, but he should be hard relative to the setting. If someone is new trying to play and starts on easy, glides through the game no problem then reaches seth, who is set to Hard on easy they get pissed and don't want to play. Isn't that the point of having difficulty settings so the PLAYER can choose to make the enemies harder when they are ready for it.

Key is to not use any special moves. Just jump with high kicks and keep moving while using normal punches and kicks. Try to keep tripping him.

SF4 makes a giant mistake not in making the boss too hard, but making access to the game's full content dependent upon your enduring round after round of punishment at Seth's overpowered (even for a final boss) hands. I bought this game to enjoy with my friends, not to fight some unfairly stacked odds against computer AI. There are many (and I mean MANY) now including myself that will never enjoy the full game and all it has to offer, because I refuse to torture myself playing the damnable CPU just to play the whole character list against my friends. Very unwise move on the part of the developers. Will deflect a lot of "would be" business. I will never recommend this game to anyone I want to have a great experience.

I never realized so many people struggle with seth. I find him incredibly easy even on the hardest difficulty but then again im am a fighting game freak who has been playing fighting basically out the womb. Seriously though you can beat him with most characters by focus attacks alone. Seth deloys different tactics at different ranges making him easy to predict thus easy to hit a with lvl3 focus or insta crumple focus attack.

Also did somebody say he was overpowered lol. Seth has quite a few down falls and is far from being the best player in the game. His worst trait being his stun stat. Chain 2 decent combos together and bam hes dizzy.
