This is a serious question.

I just started playing Hard on Rock Band (and I know Guitar Hero is harder), and I'm doing pretty badly. I can hit the notes fine, but the incorporation of the orange button keeps throwing me off.

Any tips?

Go down a difficulty so you don't use the orange button. Other than that practice. I would have assumed that was obvious.

just go down to Medium and play some of the harder songs until you can do them well, and then bump up the difficulty. practice, practice, practice.

5 star every song from easy to medium/normal after that you should be ready to take on Hard. Remember that from Hard mode and on you're going for completion of the song not 5 stars, so use your starpower in the tricky parts. After that replay hard once again until you feel confident enough to go to Expert.

no,he needs to play hard and not go down.keep playing hard songs,it gets u better, may make u mad but u will get them.when ur hitting notes dont get too excited, just relax adn watch them flow down.and have the tv sorda loud so u can sound out the buttons when u hit them.

Wow, lot of responses.

Got it, practice...a lot. Is it better to just use your pinky for blue and orange, or transition your whole hand down for the parts with orange?

I had a lot of trouble going from four frets to five, solution. Practice practice practice, you'll get it right. I complained a lot about it. I have a grip but it is hard to explain.

I have to move my hand - my little finger just doesn't want to do what my brain wants :D

The practice feature comes in really handy, especially as you can replay just the parts you are stuck on - afterall who wants to have to go all the way through TTF&F to practice the final section :P

Trust me, I had the same problem bro. All I did was practice practice practice. Ive been with Guitar Hero from the beginning and I can only play GH3 on hard but I can play Rock Band (Most songs) on Expert with minimal problems and all I did was keep at it and not give up. Took me 3 years though

Yeah, I move my hand aswell. I always start out with my pointer finger on red and pinky on orange, unless I know that the first note is green (Mountain).

Dude back when I first played GH2 i sucked kuz i had the same problem with the orange button, but I myself think its easier to use ur pinky for blue and red if its a single note, if its a chord though i slide my hand up, but all you hav to do is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, and you should play on guitar hero more than rock band kuz rock bands easier and if u wanna get good and rock out on expert like meh u gots ta practice. I dont find the tutorials in the game that helpful, but you should go practice alot of songs with the orange button blue button transition to make you get used to hittin the orange button. Stay strong and keep practicn'

Same thing happend to me. I could beat almost every song on hard but got worked on expert. Then i stopped playing for 3 months or so and i could all of a sudden play most songs on expert.

Practice. And learn to alt-strum (up/down), and to use all four fingers of the fret board hand (left).

Exactly what he said.

- slide your hand down and start with your index on red, and pinky on orange

- use your pinky for mostly just solos

- use your first three fingers for most rythmn's, sliding up and down the neck

- dont try to assign your fingers to colors, you have to move them around
