How do you power off your Xbox?

Just wondering if I am the only person who does this. When I finish playing a game, I usually hit the guide button, then I exit to the dashboard, and then I shut down the Xbox when all the noises stop (either holding down the guide button, or remote). I guess, its just the Windows in me with having to follow that shutdown procedure.

Everybody else I know just hits the power button during the game when they want to stop. I know it probably does not hurt it at all, but for some reason seeing that always makes me cringe.

Anyone else?

Dashboard screen / turn off via control.

I mix it up sometimes I go to the main game screen and then power down through the guide ~ Other times I exit to dashboard thenPD but sadly more often than not I fall asleep playing or watching a vid and it powers itself down after six hours lol ~ I know it isn't good but I try to remember to PD ;)

i power it down from the controller because if you press the console power button the green light stays on your controller using up the battery.

Hit it with a hammer....it usually shuts off after that.

I have been going to the dashboard first then push the power button on the 360 to power down

yeah thats what i do..take the battery out but the kids never do it like that

I use that big power button for what it is ment for. I jab my index finger right into its glowing green heart when I am sick of what the 360 has to offer me.

with my controller. yeah i know. but what can i say? im uber lazy lol

Power button because I unplug my Xbox 360 afterwards.

Hold down the Xbox guide botton and then choose turn off console.

press the guide button 20 seconds, and thhen press "a" on te turn off option...

or sometimes directly from the on button on the console

how can i turn it off if it doent turn on? damn red rings of death!!!

I get out my prayer beads and then offer my buddha statue a sacrifice to protect my xbox from RROD for the next turn on. Then proceed to light 3 candles before the moons comes out. Finally I take out any game I was playing and turn it off whatever way is fastest for me at the time, before buddha changes his mind.

Exit the game I'm playing, back to the dash, then guide > turn off cosole.

I do the above most of the time, but sometimes I just hit the off button on the xbox. It's what it's there for!

I just check when I want to turn off my console that it is not saving anything and then just turn it off by pressing the power button on my Xbox's remote.

I just kind ofyank the power cord out of the back of the Xbox. Either that or I just stomp on the top of it until it shuts off.I have my 360 laying horizontally in a well-ventilated area though, so its ok.
