I have had Halo 3 freeze on me a few times in gameplay and cutscenes. A message comes up saying the disc is unreadable. Did you get this problem ??

I specifically had this problem in levels 1, 3 and 5. Is this a disc problem (slightly scratched) or cache problem ??

thanks

You can try wiping it off with a lint free cloth. Star from the center and wipe out ward. Go around the disk and try you luck. If's it's a deep scratch you have two options, Trade it in. Game stop will take anything pretty much. or you can use this little gizmo called the game doctor. I'll admit I have had different results. Sometimes it works a charm and others..... well it looks like it did more harm then good. But if you game doctor it, GameStop will take it but will not give you as much as you should of got. (Take note that all Game Stops are differnt and you may get away with it)

But best way to prevent games from freezing? Take better care of the disk. What you do? Use it as a coaster while playing Combat Evolved.;)

Also can you give me a more details about the message you get. Dose it say disk unreadable.... or dose it say... Disk unreadble please put in 360. If it's the latter option then it might be your 360. The two times I got that message I got the red rings shortly after.

It actually seems that halo 3 can be the cause of the red ring of death.... i had one of the orignal boxes from release date that never caused me any problems. i played hours and hours of gears of war (even got my seriously achievement) without a single problem... I get halo 3 and it plays fine for the most part but then begins to freeze.. it would unfreeze for a while .... a week or so later i turn on my box and it freezes in the menu.. restart and sure as hell, RED RINGS OF DEATH.... i have been researching for the past hour and it appears that this is not an isolated incident. someone even made a youtube of it on his box.....IF I HAD TO GUESS I WOULD SAY THAT HALO 3 PUSHED THE LIMITS OF THE 360 SOO MUCH THAT IT PUT TOO MUCH OF A STRAIN ON THE HARDWARE CAUSING IT TO OVERHEAT AND THEN------RED RINGS--- I NEVER THOUGHT THAT GAME OVER COULD SUCK SOO BAD

lol maybe u should turn your AC on in the house, and stop playing your 360 for hours on end, and take a break everyonce in awhile

and that idea with the plastic bag and water isn't such a bad idea....all u need is alot of plastic, alot of ice and water....seal up ur 360 (nice and tight of course) make sure to allow a hose your something to come out of the bag (seal with duct tape) so air can still be moved in and out with the fans....and there u have it no more overheating

I don't think it's the game. You should buy a fan for your 360 before you get the ring of death.

i actually had the same exact problem...but i remebered when my ps2 did that...that i had to buy a can of compressed air and basically flush the dust outta the system. I did the same thing on my xbox and halo 3 seemed to work perfectly...i havent had a problem since. You should give it a try man. I thought they had sold me a faulty copy and took mine back after waiting in line for 3 hours...so i know your frustration man.

sort ur life out, no game can give u 3 red lights, u must be gutted u got that, but its all down to a problem with ur moterheboard on ur console - a hardware fault. no peice of software can cause a hardware fault on ur xbox. if ya think about it, ur xbox had to be doing something when u get the lights, just happens halo was in at the time, if u were on another game u wud of blmaed that when u shud blame ur xbox only ya idiot

Sometimes when I play skate. the game just freezes for no reason and I can't do anything about it, I have to turn the 360 off because it won't let me go back to the dashboard.

ACTUALLY..... Halo 3 is causing xbox 360's to crash. Apparently halo, along with the new update, is pushing older model xbox to the limits and crashing the motherboards. I played Halo for several weeks with no problem...but then I starting playing around with the forge and my xbox started crapping out. It would freeze up occasionally....then it started freezing on other games....and eventually I couldnt even start my system, even without a game or hard drive, without it freezing. Microsoft is replacing it for free....but seeing as this is my fourth system....its getting kind of ridiculous.......maybe they will at least send me a system with the new hdmi port.....

Sounds like either you have a damaged disk or your drive is failing.

I have been researching it and it is pretty widespread. There are multiple articles on the web and seems like more and more cases every day.
