How do you reset the controller so it can go to port 1?

im plannin to use my old controller since the one im using is i think kinda broken...how can i reset it so it will take over port1 which was previously occupied by my old controller

Restart your Xbox, and just sync your controller and Xbox again. It'll automatically make it controller 1.
