How do you think your 360 GameScore will transfer to the third Xbox?

I hope that when the third Xbox comes out they don't get rid of all our GameScore's and achievements. I hope they just add the third Xbox's gamerpoints to your current 360 gamerscore. It would seem like a waste to just have them abandoned when you use the third Xbox.

In the end the gamerscore and achievements are pretty much meaningless. I don't see why they would waste time on transferring this data over to the third xbox.

I hope in the next xbox (or possibly in the 360) they make it so you can buy themes and gamer pictures with gamer score.

I find it pretty stupid that you have to pay to advertise a game...

I agree, Gamerscores are essentially useless for anything but bragging rights so I don't know why Microsoft would choose to carry them over. However, I'm sure some sort of similar feature will be included in the third X-Box--hopefully one that has real rewards for achievements.

Yea, I don't think it's a big deal. If we could trade them in for downloads or something it would different.

If they do, I hope they give them some kind of use. Even if its just letting us buy something pointless like themes/pictures with them, but doing the obvious and letting us use them as full on ms points, though I doubt they'll do that. But ye...make them do something.

Thats a fantastic idea but instead of being able to download demos why not being able to download gamer pictures, themes, maps and music.

I think they will keep the gamerscores and achievements. It's just good marketing. It gives people an incentive to buy more games, and specifically the achievement nerds (Although people can rent the games), it makes the attachment rate for the Xbox 360 much higher. Think of those with a PS3 or a Wii, and with the multiplatform titles. People will more likely to buy the 360 version because of achievements.

It also gives people an incentive to go back and play their games again. This makes the games life longer. If there were no 10,000 kills achievement in Gears of War, those hardcore players on ranked might go play something else. And if if more people are playing games longer, that provides an opportunity for new gaming content which people will buy (Gears of War maps), hence, it is more money for microsoft and the gaming companies. It's a good marketing scheme.

Personally, I bought some new games that I never thought I would because of achievements, even though I know they mean nothing. I think it's more about getting a sense of accomplishment, and having it recorded in your profile. It's much more rewarding to go back and play a game on hard mode and get rewarded for it.

Being rewarded for it?

What are they rewarding you with? Numbers? Oh ok, let me reward you. 0374029384. Let me reward you some more. 2934720978420938472093472. Feeling accomplished yet? 23740938240. I bet you are now. 8273842

Beat the game, feel accomplished. Not becuase of a little message that pops of saying you beat it. An accomplishment is a mental feeling, you shouldn't care if any one can see your accomplishment or not. An achieivement is the feeling knowing you worked forsomething and knowing you had success in trying.

You're not being rewarded with anything realistically, but you can beat the game and feel accomplishment, but there are the other "goals" in the game that you can try. It might be a mental feeling, and yes it is a mental feeling, but wouldn't you want to have a record of itso you can go back and visit those fond memories, and perhaps go back and play the game again?

You could give me all the numbers, but you have to understand that achievement points are cumulative, meaning they add up from all your other accomplishments. Bascially, a number on your gamerscore is the representative of your hard work in a game, and people might say "Oh you game too much", yet all gamers are different, and I couldn't care less whether jimmy plays a game more than I do because he probably likes the game.

But yes, it probably would be great to be rewarded with something real, but it doesn't mean it's necessary.

Your gamerscore and achievements are tied into your gamercard so as long as you keep the same gamercard it will transfer.

I guarantee your gamercard, gamerscore and achievements will transfer to the next Xbox. They've set a precedent, a very popular one at that. Giving players a system that rewards them and lets them accumulate those rewards and then taking it away if they buy your next product would be a monumentally stupid decision.

QFT... achievements aren't going away. In fact, the whole trophy thing for PS3? Why do you think they're doing it? Because achievement points have made money for MS. I haven't bought any games explicitly for achievements, though I have gone out of my way to beat games on their hardest difficulty levels for them. But I've got people on my friends list who are in their 30s and are playing Ratatouie (sic?) right now, so that means something. Well, it probably means a couple of things.

That being said, I doubt MS will transfer them to the 3rd Xbox system, though I wouldn't think they'd include PC games like they are now either. No way to really tell. Not fair to people who jump ship next gen though, is it?

It just will transfer. Its as simple as that. The gamerscore follows you with your gamercard. In the same way that you can recover your gamerscore on Xbox 360, it will recover your gamerscore with it. Gamerscore is not something that is saved on to the Xbox360 harddrive, its registered with your Xbox Live account, and because you pay for that account you get to have gamerscores, When the new Xbox comes out you will be able to recover that gamerscore as long as you have the account open.

How do you think you are able to view your gamerscore with your .NET passport. Microsoft thought it through you know, its not something that will be impossible to integrate into a new Xbox. The databases with this information is available on the Xbox live network and it wont be dissapearing. That would make alot of people angry, and i don't think Microsoft is looking to get bad reviews.

this is looking pretty far ahead, but i doubt microsoft would do something as stupid as to get rid of our gamescores. gamerscores have become a huge selling point for games, so i predict a smooth transition from 360 to whatever the third xbox is called

II-FBIsniper-II
i never thought about it like that. i think that games with ads should actually cost less. EA i'm looking at u. racing games shouldn't since a lot of the ads there are already in the game, like ads for cars.

i have a feeling that they are going to be doing that. i think that it will actually add something new to it also. it's just what i think will happen.

I'm sure if they transfer them (Which I hope they do, I know that they don't really matter all that much but they just give you a feeling of accomplishment. You know what I mean?) They'll just go transfer with your Gamer Tag. It works from 360 to 360 so why not to a next gen console?

I don't think that a third Xbox will come out anytime in the next 3 or 4 years, so it's too soon to really know what will happen between now and then on the 360.

Also, buying things with Gamerscore? I don't think so. I have over 10k GS, and I've seen others with much more, so GS having the same value or anywhere even closeto Microsoft Points wouldn't work, seeing as a 1.6k MP card is $20 USD, and so on. It also wouldn't work seeing as they share the money made from the downloads to the Devs/Pubs, even if it's for useless stuff. Microsoft wouldn't cover the cost of us on the things we buy when it comes down to the third-party getting their share of the money.
