Hey. So, I haven't played any of the Mass Effect games (except for like 20 minutes of ME1, at a friends house, way back when it came out). I'm not interested in playing them, so I don't give a crap about the story, or whether or not it will be spoiled. I have no intention of going through it on my own. I just read the GS article about the petition to change the ending. Just wondering what's the big deal? How did it end, and why is that a bad thing (or why not)?

Spoilers, obiovusly:

Your charecter (Commander Shepard) ultimatly ends up with a choice to either

A) Destory the reapers (bad guys, big machines) with the side effect of wipping out nearly all advanced technology and with the implied threat of another AI being created in the future
B) Control the reapers with the threat that one day it will all coem crashine down
C) Synthesis, where in your charecter fuses all organic and synthetic life together at the DNA level thereby finishing the war between machines and people forever

People seem to hate this mostly because every single choice you've made for the last 3 games don't effect the outcome (they effect the battle beforehand) and the synthesis ending is pretty high-sci-fi for most gamers.

and, yeah I'm a Mass Effect fan boy who loved all the games and the ending

From the videos I've seen.. It seems like Shepard is actually knocked out, getting indoctrinated before he even gets to the portal at the Citadel... The last 3 choices are just a battle for Shepard's mind. I don't feel like presenting all the evidence because they're plenty of videos out there..
