Just wondering, I hear stories of them lasting only a month, but my friend's box is going for more than 2 years. So how long do they last?

My guess is they couldn't really be much less reliable than brand new ones. Get a warranty & whatever, if it's cheaper why not?

My Xbox 360 was given to me after it was repaired, never had a problem with it.

I don't recommend a refurb. My brother bought one one time and it broken in a short time.
