How Good will Gears 2 be?

a lot of recent reviews (mainly ng2 and r6v2) have ripped on sequels for not being different enough, for that, they get lower scores. so far though it looks like gears is pretty much gonna be more of the same. either way though i think its gonna be a great game but im just kinda worried that the reviews wont be up there. ng1 was fantastic and i thought more of the same would translate to good scores like halo did.

i will def be picking up gears of war 2 but how good do u think itll be? im talking better story? campaign? and will it be "revolutionary" enough to get the review scores it deserves?

It looks similiar? Really, you guys? I dont remember having epic battles like the one you saw in the gameplay footage. And I'll say this again, and again for everyone. That was just ONE footage. Have you seen the magazine scans of Gears of War 2? Look it up. You'll have a change of mind. How can you concieve that Gears of War 2 will be the same just from one video footage? I dont remember being able to chainsaw the locust from behind, or chainsaw dueling? Hell, you can even use your enemy as a shield and when you're done with it, you can snap it's neck. No offense, but gamers like you guys have no faith. Have some faith. This is Epic games, Gears of War 2, not some no name studio without a formula of success. We're talking Cliffy B here. You cannot base a game on trailers and demos. You have to play the full game, the final product.

To add to this, the graphics are much improved. Better lighting and shadows, more textures, no funny white lighting and contrast, more 3D objects on the screen, and it ran super smooth with no slowdown. Get a computer moniter and your HDTV running Gears of War and you'll see the difference right away. If you cant, sorry, you're blind.

I'll probably have the same experience i did with the first.

I'll play it at my friends for awhile, get super excited the first time i can chainsaw someone, get bored after an hour, but still beat it. Then wait a month and buy it for online and be super disappointed. But it might be cool, maybe.

The Graphics? The graphics look pretty much the same even with an HDTV.The gameplay is also pretty much the same except for the chainsaw duels and new animations. Can't we have our own opinion without having people like you messing up our opinions. Can we? Their might be new weapons but their might be only few of them.

seeing how good gears of war 1 was this one will be better then every game Halo3 COD4 R6V2 GTA IV it will be the best game ever!! that is how i see it

the graphics were one of the first things i noticed. ppl complained that the only colors were brown and gray so the gameplay vid was in the day to show off other colors

Reviwers and Gamers have a double standard when it comes to sequels.

When it's a Nintendo game it can be exactly the same. (Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros Brawl) But when its a non-Nintendo series like Ninja Gaiden 2 or Rainbow Six it gets slammed for being the same.

Then you have gamers who complain when a game is the same but then complain when the new Banjo game is completely innovative.

Gears of War 2 will be similar to Gears of War? Is that a bad thing - NO. Gears is the best game on the 360 still (IMO) and I welcome Gears 2 even if its going to have the same gameplay mechanics. Why change a game that works? The story is going to continue and they are adding little things here and there. If you enjoyed the first game then you'll enjoy this one. If you hated the first game, you'll hate this one.
