It all depends on how you treat it. If you constantly over-charge it will probably not last long; the best way to charge is to let you batteries to completely drain and then charge them, this will give you maximum battery life out of your batteries (if you have the Official M$ they should last 2-5 years). Nyko batteries are NiMH (Nickerl-Metalhydride) the life on these even if you charge them properly is only 1-2 years, I do not know if Rocketfish are NiMH or Lithium but depending on what composite it is (NiMH will perform like a Nyko and Lithium Ion will perform like M$ official) you expect the respective life out of those also.

Edit: You also could have a bad cable, it isn't uncommon for the battery to outlast the cable. The only fix for this is to obviously buy a new cable.

Me too. I don't know why so many people are having issues with it. It's pretty straight forward. But maybe it just seems like this because the people who are having problems with the play and charge kit are of course more vocal than people who don't have these issues.

I'm a new XBOX 360 slim owner and was wondering is it better to get this plug and play set or just get a regular duralcell or energizer rechargeble battery set?

It's probably better to just get regular rechargeable batteries, especially if you have other devices around the house that eat up batteries. It is convenient to be able to charge while playing with the plug and play kit but it's not that big a deal compared to just swapping out regular rechargeables.

This is not true at all. The official Microsoft batteries are not Lithium... they're also NiMH. And if they were Lithium (which they're not) than completely draining them before recharging them would ruin them faster.

Why do people post about things which they obviously have no knowledge of?

Why do you all use these dang play n charge cables anyway? Just buy the charging stand which Ive seen now for $10 & comes with another rechareable battery. You never have to do anything but swap the battery & it lasts for days with heavy use for me.

The charging stand shuts off when fully charged & doesnt effect life of battery at all.
