I have an opportunity to get an Arcade 360 with the 512MB memory unit for a good price, and I'm not planning on getting a 60GB or 120GB hard drive. If I'm only going to be playing 2 or 3 games consistently and without Live, will the memory unit be enough to get by?

It will be tons as long as you don't download content from online. When I had to send in my hard drive for repair I bought a 512mb memory card and backed up all my saves, i have approximatly 50 games worth of saves, and still had about 200mb left....

You will never use up 512MB of just saved files, so don't worry about it.

^What he said As long as you don't plan on getting stuff off of live ( although there are some really small sized demo's...) you'll be fine. If you do have other plans, such as downloading maps and what not for your 3 games, then it won't be a question of how long it will last, but of how long it won't forcing you to get the 20gb :P. I think it's more than enough.

i know there are a few titles that are like 3mb a save

and some gamers like to save each file in a different slot (like having 200 saves in oblivion)

but even if u did that, itd be unlikely that ud run out of room

You'll be fine. If you end up getting Live and wanting to do more with your console, you can upgrade.

Should last a while for just saving games but is NOT much use for downloading map packs, demos, videos and movies

its not going to last you at all, games are coming out with the NXE on it, and requireing an update (eg Wanted Weapons of Fate) sure you can delete it and re install when u wana play but the update taked up like 2/3rds of the space.

Its almost a must to get a HD, i hope they come down in prices, since some games dont give ya a choice but to update.

this happened on my brothers arcade which was not connected to the internet or anything, no ethernet chord or anythingjust straight up offline. haha good thing i got a pro

You can still have the NXE with a memory card......what you need to do is download NXE, and then delete the Avatar portion of it, and it shrinks the NXE size by over 200mbs....
