I used to be a BIG Halo fan, but now I'm nowhere near as much of a fan as I was.

That said, I've never been a player of RTS games.

I don't think I should give Halo Wars attention just because Microsoft has slapped their biggest cash cow into it.

How many of you don't care about Halo Wars and immediately lost interest after you heard that it was a "Halo RTS"?

I don't think that because Microsoft slapped the Halo universe into a game, it has to be bad... i have the game, and i love it!. it's pretty simple now, but later on it'll be much more interesting when dlc get released. and yes, dlc is going to be released. some have already been made, others will be supported by the new studio formed by ensemble members people who only enjoy mindless shooting will not like this game. but that's not to say it's a bad game... i got it on ebay for $40. i felt like it's a very good investment.

I have some interests in it, but I'm not ready to plop down 60 bucks for a genre I am very unfamiliar with. It does sound like a great game to get one's feet wet with Real Time Strategy, and to be honest I'm kind of interested in the story and seeing the Halo Universe through CG cutscenes. What I've seen looks pretty good.

I used to be a big halo fan back when it came out, and I also love RTSes (I have every Warcraft and Starcraft game), but Halo as an RTS doesn't really seem that right so I didn't try it, nor did I really aknowledge its existence, tell you the truth. I don't know, maybe Command and Conquer messed it up for me. . .

No, I didn't overlook it, and neither did you, thread creator. You made a conscious decision to avoid the game, which is not the same as overlooking it. I made a conscious decision to buy Halo Wars at some point in the future, when the price has dropped a moderate degree. I like the Halo shooters, am mildly interested in the Halo universe, and am a dilettante in RTSs. I enjoyed the demo, but not enough to make me go out and buy the game right off the bat.

I didn't overlook it at all. I looked it right in the eyes, told it I thought it had a slight chance. Oversimplification and lack of challenge brought it to its knees and eventually killed it. Games come and go. None overlooked, nothing goes unseen. Here I sit, unimpressed and uninterested again. Halo Wars could have been great, but wasn't. Story of the world.

This is basically my own basic thought on the game. It wasn't horrrid, but it was definitely not the most amazing thing to grace my console. I would definitely consider a cheaper copy if the chance arose.

I passed on Halo Wars. The demo didn't meet the expectations I had after reading numerous articles regarding the game. I'm waiting for ODST, if Bungie fails to impress, I'd assume it's curtains for the series. Bungie seems to wanna move on from it's flagship series anyways. Might be for the better, new Myth game or Oni 2 anyone? :D

Halo Wars is pretty much the simplest Strategy game you will ever play. If you're really interested in playing a strategy game don't play this one; as in my opinion, it's also the worst strategy game I've ever played.I love Halo 1-3, but Halo Wars is god awful. Read my full review This is the one case where I think most professional reviews only gave it a good score because it carries the Halo title (lucky Gamespot wasn't biased by this fact and gave it around what it deserved; a 6.5)

It's like; imagine that Bikini Samurai hack and slash game that came out a couple weeks ago and got a 2.5... now simply turn those character models into Star Wars, Matrix, Lord of the Rings, etc character models and the rating for the game will go 4 to 5 points.
That's exactly what this game is, a piece of garbage in terms of actual strategy, but it has the Halo Theme around it.

If you want to give strategy games a try; I would suggest Dawn of War II (Best strategy game I've ever played, only for PC) or for something a bit easier but still good to play with a great plot and lots of units; you could try Red Alert 3 or Tiberiam Wars. Both are for 360 and PC.

I've recently been interested in how developers are translating the whole RTS scene over to the console, after trying the C&C demo, I didn't think it was possible. Before playing the demo of Halo Wars I thought I'd go back and see how other titles have dealt with the limited control system when it comes to making the transition from PC to console. That said I hit up End War and Civilization 4. Both I felt did some interesting things and succeeded where they put the effort in. Then I tried the Halo Wars demo, although I felt they had nailed what making an RTS work on a console, such as stripping down the base building and recourse management and focusing more on the combat itself (after all Halo has always been about the action in the past). After playing the few campaign levels I was left with no emotional attachment at all. Seemed very simple and not all that fun. I have however put this on my rental list so I can try out the multiplayer which you never know, may be its saving grace. However from what I hear, there are not that many people playing it anymore.

I like RTS and I'd like to see it well done on a console, but the Halo universe is not for me. I found the shooters unbelievably boring, and I can't imagine the RTS would be much different.

the most annoying thing is when people don't know the defition of Irony!!!!!!!!! The fact that it was intended to be an RTS and was evetually made is just a coincidence at best.

But because its obviousl looking at scores that if you want a console RTS, get yourself C&C3 or red alert 3.

This game is being overlooked... everyone keeps comparing it to PC RTS's. Halo Wars is NOT a PC RTS but a RTS made for console. Yes its simple by design compared to PC RTS, but it needs to be to be playable on a console. This game reminds me alot of Starcraft and that is why I like it. I get the same feeling I used to get when I played Starcraft, simple but fun. Halo Wars is fun online period. it is not the greatest RTS ever but its a good console RTS... its the only RTS on a console that works.

I don't like strategy games, so this is not something I wanna play. I know a friend who is addicted to strategy games, but he won't play this because it has "halo" on the cover. I don't really feel that way about video games, but it's his choice I guess.

Well i got the Demo to see for my self if Halo Wars was any fun. and i was impressed by how great the demo was and would be enjoying the demo still if my xbox had not gotten RRoD just as MArch Break started. but i will not be buying Halo Wars even when i finally get my Xbox repaired, Halo Wars would not be worth the price of buying the game

1: why do you hate halo 2: why do you rts on console?

1. Not everyone will like a series regardless of popularity, gameplay and accomplishments. To the occasional person Halo is just 'Shootan gaem numbah #1337, nothing special except it's online play. To be honest I to this day don't know whether I like or hate the series. It is a game with a huge list of pros and cons.

2. I think you misunderstood MrBelveder06, hewas stating he has yet to play a Console RTS he liked, not that he actually plays them. You must have misunderstood, he was basically saying 'Console RTS suck'. Which for the most part is a rather accurate statement give or take a title or two.

I am use to the RTS games on the computer. I rented Halo Wars and was not impressed at all. The cinematic's are very nicely done but, that was about it.
