I was wondering this and I have a Question to everybody.

How many of you went through a period of not playing games for an extended period of times or had Gamer Withdraw before you bought your 360?

I am 30  and I have always loved gaming, but I went through many times over the years, where I just would not play any of my systems for 2 to 6 months and they just collected dust

Like my PS2 for example, although it had many great games for it over the years, it just never did the job for me, I think that the online being like crap and no interactivity features with the console kept me from playing it for a long period of time without ever stopping

Also not having a new system for a long time, it deflates a gamer and they become disinterested and after not having a new system for like 4 or 5 years, Gaming can easily become boring to you, I have known this to happen to many people that have not had a new system for years and I tell them, once you buy a system like a 360, you will become interested in games again and want to play nonstop again and I tell them, do not give up hope, you just need a new system with new challenges

Now with my 360, which I have had for 7 months since August of last year, it is the best thing that has ever happened to me as a gamer. Xbox live keeps games from getting boring for me and I look forward to playing games more then ever now and Xbox live with online gaming and interactivity features of the 360 have kept me gaming nonstop.

Playing Single player games or just the Campaign just does not do it for me, I think that is why I got bored with the PS2, because I need the challenge of playing real human opponents, not some A.I and the 360 allows me to play againist human opponents

No other console that I have ever owned has kept me gaming nonstop since I have had the system and that is not going to change anytime soon either

It kind of sucks that some people who have never owned a 360 or have never tried online gaming understand what the 360 and online gaming can do for them as a gamer, because I tell this to people that never have owned the original Xbox or the 360 and they just do not realize what they are missing out on

I mean if it can keep me playing games for a long period of time and not stop, then I know it can do that for other people as well

Nope. I did for a while, waiting to buy a 360, but then I decided to play Morrowind again, so  that kept me busy.

It's pretty weird, when i was younger like before i got into high school i played all the time. Then when i got into high school i was more of a casual gamer, i'd play a lot of sports games, and some halo 1 and what not. When i got out of high school though i went back too my roots and started playing again.

Yeah I had exactly this, but not for the same reason. My PS2 has had problems (stuff has been spilled on/near it, its been dropped ... you know how it is) and eventually just crapped out and I went a year without any gaming before I bought a 360 this year.

Same here. Its the reason I got a 360; too much time without a good game.

I played the heck out of the N64 (showing my age) and the SNES and I played the dreamcast and my gamecube before they both went t!ts up...but I didn't really get too hardcore with the PS2...just a lot of sports games. I'm crazy with the 360 though...crazy

No, but I have a friend that all of a sudden just stopped playing his 360, and he stopped for like 2 months and thought video games were just gay but I convinced him to play some co-op with me in Gears of War and he got back into games again :).

I did stop playing console games for a while before I got my 360. I was playing WoW, but I had already gotten sick of it and was getting ready to sell my account. Strangely enough after I got my 360 I found a bunch of PS2 and XBox games that I wanted to play.

Well most of us gamers, especially older games have gone through periods of not playing for extended periods of time, it can be to various reasons though
