I think they are correct most of the time, of course I do disagree with them from time to time but what they say is usually pretty acurate.

I usually just go by gamespot scores. Alot of times I dont agree with them at all, but I can somewhat gauge what the game is like. I loved some games they didnt like at all. No reviewer is always gunna like what you like tho.

I usually just use the score as a warning that the game MIGHT be bad. But it is my choice on whether to play it or not. For example, they gave PotC: At World's End a 6.2. But since I enjoyed the movie I decided to give the game a try and I really liked it. So just use the score as a sort of warning if it is low. You still might like it.

I don't go by scores, however I read reviews to get a different person's outake on the game. I'll research the game myself, watch some vid's play the demo if possible, and make my decision upon those factors.

I use the review as a warning, but like many have said if you like the type of game you should still make a decision on whether you want to buy it. For example Call of Juarez is going to get a pretty low review, but I like all western games and I am probably going to buy it.

Too many people follow the reviews like they are gospel. Also, many do not understand what the reviews mean, and it seems they think that anything under a 9 is trash, when in reality most everything over a 6 is at least worth a try. There are some that score tremendously poorly that turn out to be a good bit of fun, actually. I enjoyed Red Steel and Nintey-Nine Nights, myself.

I don't trust reviews, they're all just someone else's opinion. I usually go with gameplay videos and demos, or I'll read about a game and decide if it's for me. Or if it's part of a series I like, that's a biggie.

I use GS, IGN, and GT to make my choices. If I question them, then I'll simply use their scores as a reference for good and bad points of a game.

I go to metacritic.com to get an idea of the average review. Then I read reviews that were close to the average. If I'm still unsure, I read the best review and the worst review to get an idea of what is done well in the game and what isn't.

I actally think they are a great site for reviews. I trust them.

Not always with the score neceaasrily, but in there reviews, i find that they are very in depth, and they explain things very well. They actually say why they did/did not like them, and give reasons and examples. Becuase of that i can judge weather or not i will like a game. Like if they say the game is bad becuase there is a lot of monotonous leveling up, and slow progression, i can judge that by saing "well, i like level grinding, so i will liek this game".

So ya, i love there reviews, they give me a on of great info.

I usually read a number of reviews before deciding whether to buy a game or not. While Gamespot can sometimes be harsh, as a mature gamer, I like their perspective. Like most Gamespot reviewers, I've played an awful lot of games at this point in my life. If something is just average or doesn't offer anything new -- or the kind of value I'm used to expecting --then yes, I tend to be a little extra critical as well. I tend to only buy the best games, 8.5+ scores, but I'm willing to try out anything.

I usually agree with them most of the time. I dont think there was ever a time where I thought they were completely wrong, but I do often disagree in some areas.

Imo, G4's show x-play is generally the more accurate of game reviewers, but gamespot is pretty good to, somtimes there reviews piss me off.  I felt crackdown and quake 4 deserved higher scores.

i factor it into my decision, of if i want to get an old game i might look at the gamespot review.  i dont use ign that much, no particular reason i just like gamespot.  but some games i almost know that im goin to get, like graw 2, c&c3, gears, i dont even wait for the review i just go and get em

I personally like to go and take a browse at gamerankings, but I think the most important review should be your own. Rent the game, play the game, love or hate the game, and come to your own conclusions of how YOU like the game. I try not to let outside factors and influences ever determine what I like and don't like.

I think the reviews help me to decide if to buy a game I'm not too sure about however if I've already decided I want a game tehn I'll probably get it no matter what the review, reviews just help me to look a bit deeper into games that Im not sure about but a review would never deter me form getting a game.

I have to read the reviews on games and user reviews before I buy them because earlier this year I made a mistake by just walking in target once and buying NCAA football 07 for the 360 only to realize when I got home all the features that made the game great were no longer there so if I would have been smart and read the review of the game first I would have saved myself $40

I always read them before buying a game.  I go by gamespot's mrore than anyones elses,  but I also read several other reviews.  (unless the game is a huge blockbuster like Halo 3 or GTA).  In my personal opinion professional reviews are almost always a little low.   If a game gets a pretty bad review I won't buy it unless the open market agrees that the reviewrs are wrong.

I wanted to add,  If I can play a demo and like the game then i'll buy it no matter what.  I've bought a few games that I tried out on live that I wouldn't have bought had I not had a chance to play them.

I think GameSpot writes excellent reviews. But of course, when it comes to deciding on whether or not to pick up a game, I scan through many reviews from several different sites. GameSpot is one of my favorites though.
