I am super careful with my discs, and freak when ever I get a minor smudge or scuff on one (which is next to never) but I was just wondering how much abuse can a disc take before it becomes unreadable to the xbox?

The discs at my local Game store look really bad I am amazed that they even play. I know my music cd's (some of them) are terribly scuffed but seem to play skip free, is this pretty much the case with my 360 or is it mush more sensative than your typical cd/dvd reader.

Thanks

It has more to do with the depth and angle of the scratches than anything else.

Any and all scratches are bad. Just try your best not to scratch it.

It pretty much depends on how deep the scratch is, one deep scratch could render it unreadable but a few small scuffs probably wouldn't do anything.

Also it depends on the direction the scratches are in. If the go more horizontal, rather than vertical, the chances of them causing errors is a lot greater.

you can have 100 scraches and the disc can be fine or have a tiny scratch and it wont work... all depends on how deep the scratch is

Sometimes my disks are completly scratched and work fine... then other times I will have one scratch and my games will not work.
