When Microsoft releases the next gen console I think it'll cost the same as a 360 and the 360 will go down in price.

The 360 launched at 299 and 399 respectively
There is no way it even gets near those numbers you listed
Yea and it is still 199 and 299. I think it will at least be 399 to 499..IF they release a next gen console, I mean, whats the point? It's not like graphics can get much better.gradientdiscThat's what I thought at first... but ask yourself that question again. There´s always room for improvement. As for the price, I'll say about the same ($300-400)

oh but they can get much much better. The real problem is can the game industry keep up. Production costs are already sky high and are only going to get higher with new system and more power. Things are going to get very expensive fast which is 1 of the reasons why this gen is going to last longer than people think.
on topic though id say anywhere form $400 - $600 for next gen systems and there will probably be different entry points.

The question is dose microsoft want to make a profit out of the door or not? When you release a new console you need max out highest max point to start gaining your money back

MrMe1000
$400 U.S. Dollars.(maybe a few skus at varying pricepoints around this point, as the original launch had two skus)
It is actually odd that the 360 launched at $300 and $400 skus back in 2005,
and here we are in 2010, and the 360 skus are $200-$300-$400.
Under a new leader this generation, Console prices didn't go down so much this generation.

It launched at $650 in Australia. And games were between $100-$130 each. Thankfully now it is much cheaper.IF they release a next gen console, I mean, whats the point? It's not like graphics can get much better.gradientdiscYes they can, the XBOX360 is miles behind current PC Hardware. It also doesn't have DX11 and therefore no features such as Tessellation. In 2014/16 the 360 and PS3's graphics will be hugely outdated. If Project Cafè rumors are correct then the next Nintendo Console will have R700 Architecture, Which is basically a 4870 with DX11 I think. The 360 is based on R600 so already there is proof that there can be improvement. Anyway back on topic, In terms of price I'm guessing £350.

have you seen the first crysis on a ultra high end pc?? or what battlefield 3 looks like on a high end pc?? no present console game really comes close to those, and im pretty sure people thought graphics couldnt get much better than what the original xbox and ps2 were doing back in the day. those games look like crap compared to 360 and ps3 games today.
If they was smart they would just start at 200, i hate having to wait forever for the price drop.It seems when the price drops the sales go up.mrsniper83Yea right, that won't even buy a decent graphics card.
I'm hoping it's $300 like the current 360 Slim. Hopefully, they don't put anything like a Blu-Ray player in it. Blu-Ray players have come down in price so much, and you might think it would only serve to make Microsoft more money to put a Blu-Ray player in and raise the price.
seeing as project cafe is gonna be around 300-349.99
im going with 449.99 -500-and me not buying on launch thats for sure!
oh man the graphics CAN get better. i played bad company 2 on my friends PC and compared to this... wooo bad company 2 on the PC looks amazing. and when you play on a large screen tv, you can see the rough edges on the models in the game. but anyway the gameplay on the xbox 360 version is more fun imho.
i mean when i play bad company 2 on my tv, i can see the rough edges on the models in the game. also applies to need for speed hot pursuit... and perhaps other games as well.
