When I was a teenager, I spent most of my paycheck on video games and video game related things. Now that I'm in college...I barely buy any video games now. Most of my money goes towards savings and mods for my Evo.

Firstly, the chance that someone has actually tallied up all their costs of gaming is so slim that if it was manifested into a portal not even a flea could fit through it. Secondly, let's say someone does post the amount of money they have spent, now what? what have you gained, learned or otherwise benefited from by knowing that? please, make threads that ask questions, by all means, yes go for it. But make them somehow be beneficial and don't just ask questions for the sake of asking.
Alot, across my 30 ds games, 18 wii games, and 12 360 games For 360: Call of duty 2- $10 Call of duty 4- (i got it for free from my uncle who never has time to play his 360) 60$ Cod Waw- $60 Halo 3- $60 Burnout Paradice- $30 skate.- $40 Soul Calibur 4- $60 Fable 2- $60 Guitar Hero 2- $90 Guitar Hero 3- $90 GHWT- $100 RB2- $60 Xbox 360- $300 Wifi Adapter- $100 XBL- $60 That over 1000 dollars, and thats just for 360!
in 2008 alone, i spent nearly $800 on games, and that's including the deals I got on Black Friday, collectors editions of certain games, and reservation fees for games I reserved. i don't even want to know how much I spent last year when putting my gaming spendings together with everything else.

When I think about how much I've spent, I think about the amount of entertainment I've gotten in return. In the end, it was well worth it to spend however much I have and when thinking about it, isn't a whole lot.
I have about 100 current gen games across all three major consoles. So figure about $60 a pop, taking into account that many are collector's editions and several are music games that cost more. That is $6,000 right here. Then the launch PS3, which was more than $500. The Halo XBOX 360 was like $300. The Wii was $250. That's another $1,000. Then you have accessories.
Oh, and the HDTV that I use only for gaming. This is sad. Way too much.
Some absolutely RIDICULOUS sum of money but that's ok because it's what I do. I still don't want to think about it though because if I still had that money I could probably have one of the most kickass cars any 17 year old has ever had...well not including kids that have loaded parents that is.
Way way too much. I'd go to the game store and spend $300-500 dollars two times a month. I've started to budget lately... it sucks in the short run cause I ALWAYS want something, but its all about the long run...

Oh I should clarify. I recieved $640 for my birthday and blew it all at EBgames this morning on PC and 360 games. :( I feel bad and reading the amounts you guys have spent makes me feel a bit better. :)

Based only on XBOX 360 games, I calculated 1050 (including Rockband 2), console 400, and extra contoller 50. So in total over the last 2 years and 2 months I have spent around 1500 on XBOX 360. Life time I would say between 3000-4000.

Hm well in my entire lifetime (which isn't long, I'm 17) I have spent out of my own pocket on all game-related items including consoles probably... $1500-$2000? And that's just what I've spent on my gaming collection. Scary to think about, but worth it. Games and consoles are very prized possessions in my eyes.

Quite a bit, however I save a lot as well by selling games I've completed or don't play on a regular basis. I know a lot of gamers believe you shouldn't sell your games, but I'm not keeping something around that I'm only going to play once a month.
