How peoples perceptions of video games have changed over the years

heyy, im currently creating a documentary about the above topic ^^^ and was wondering if anyone would like to talk about how they believe video games have changed or are seen to the public nowadays compared to say 10 years ago?

including content (story,Violence,Music, voice acting, talent,) etc. also if they are more immersive and reasons for this?

sales? do you believe video games have overtaken dvd, cinema and music sales ?

do you have family or girlfriends that wouldnt of touched video games years ago but now play? and reasons for this change?

your input would be greatly appriciated!

Well Back when i was like 9..If you played games you where considered a geek..Now every ones doing it..Was worst because i also was heavily into my pc..Now people of all ages sex an older people are playing..We came along way..Now im not ashamed to be involved in my hobby..Now half my co workers own a wii an xbox or a ps3..Its odd that way things change..There was a time when you had to Code the sound of your game in order to work..Games have change quit a bit..From dots to pixars..Look at mass effect 2 and gears 3..When i was like 9 id never imagin games like this..Im sure when im 90 things will change again..Ill still be playing than also..

To answer your questions, sales have skyrocketed the past years due to the influx of the more casual games.

Voice Acting and Music has gotten generally better due to greater production values

Immersion and story though are things that depend on the creativity and imagination of a developer, which means that imo they have not gotten better or worse (altough better graphics are more capable to create a sense of immersion, in the right hands)
